Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive....

I will never understand adults who immerse themselves in tangled lies...does it not occur to people that whatever is done in the dark has a way of making it into the light???

My brutal honesty has cost me relationships, jobs and a multitude of other things...but at the end of the day i have retained my integrity...and isn't that worth it??

Anyone else out there found themself caught in a web of lies (whether it be of your own making or someone elses) and what did you learn from it?

My heart, sensibilities and emotions were recently trashed by an habitual deceiver. A person who has no "self". What have I learned ? That I will continue to trust and my integrity will be made even stronger. My word defines me, it is all I have. Paws

To lie is human nature only to the extent that to sin is human nature. Doesn't make it "natural" or "right." Lying, deceitfulness, etc., particularly for personal gain and/or due to a lack of societal conscience, is pure evil, IMHO. There is NO excuse for it. None whatseover. People who deliberately mislead other people are cruel people, whose only focus is on themselves, their greed and their skewed perception of their own worth.

Having dealt with deceptive people myself in the past and will probably do so in the future, be it at work or at a personal level, I have found that it is part of my growth, a learning experience. Yes, it does leave bitter disappointment sometimes, but that is shortlived and then again, it would be a shame if I had not learnt anything out of it.

The truth is that nowadays, I can see and feel much better the vibes of the other person or persons I meet.

This I believe is very positive, because I feel elated when I get to know someone and discover that he/she is truthful and honest! Alas, that happens rarely, but yes, it does happen. thumbs up grin

I always thought it was rather silly of adults to lie. I mean what is the point? You aren't going to be sent to your room or have your car or phone privileges taken away.

So to lie as an adult must be to "save face" or avoid disapproval from other adults. By telling the lie proves they feel they have done something wrong and feel the need to cover it up. If ones behavior is so shameful to have to cover it up with lies, perhaps one needs to re-evaluate themselves.

I try to avoid the web, regardless of me finding myself on the world wide...

I take the "what if" in life in it's conditional sense. If it does not feel right, then I simply do not do it. If it gets crazy and I go with it, then I rationalize that to a lesson learned.

I too, am not without fault. All I know is that I try to do my best with and upon others. I try to remain uncomplicated. I try to say what I do. I try, but not unlike anyone else, complicate the things which are dearest to my heart, including, passion, compassion, romance and love.

There are those who lie for a temporary convenience, some who twist the truth, then there are those who's whole existance is a lie. The cost to the one's being lied to is a tragedy. I happened to get involved with the latter. Paws

If it's any consolation whatsoever, I think most of us have fallen victim to those "emotional predators." They can suck your spirit right out of you, if you let 'em.
