I was shocked and a little offended when a black man I dated told me that sometimes a black man dating a white woman is perceived as the white woman being a trophy - an achievement, as you said.
I found that interesting though, because the common ground of culture between us was that we were both racially Jewish.

Guess what, I just found out today that Im white caucasian yet I don`t feel any different than yesterday ...anyhow ,I saw in quite a few profiles where people felt the need to point out their "preferences" regarding race they feel comfortable to date so my guess would be ,for some people, it is a big deal.

race is irrelevant, colour is too so is age so is hair colour so is that of the eyes.
Martin Luther King Jr said we she should judge people on the content of their character not the colour of their skin. I think the great man would also add race and ethnicity to that as well, he probably did
I want someone that loves me for me and i would do the same for them, coming from a mixed up pool of Irish, English and Jewish i would be a hypocrit to think other wise. Even without my mixed up genes i would still feel that way.

Depends on the education of the person you´re dating. I dated black guys in the 70´s. One especially was extremely fashionable and handsome I remember. I might add ...it didn´t go down very well with my friends.
What I find sad.......is that attitude!!!.....where a person is a trophy.....but that´s no different than an older man chosing a bimbo as a trophy. Or a (dare I say it!!!!) COUGAR displaying HER trophy.
