If it had not been up to "smarter people", religious types would still be burning them at the stake, torturing them, having us believe the earth is flat and 6000 years old,,
Even now religious types cannot stop meddling in politics that affects us all. If they would just believe whatever and leave the rest of us in peace there would be no argument,,,

Actually,whether there is or is not a god,isnt really the problem.Its all those that use it to there avantage,hide behind it,interpret it how it suits them,kill in the name of,and make a fortune from it that irks me!

A poor choice of words on my part agreed. No where in my post did I mention or infer religion but most or us have to start somewhere and I believe that a religious exposure as a child starts us thinking (hopefully) of spirit. There are a great many books that have taught me my understanding of spiritual matters and my understanding of late is that it is better to believe in a power greater than myself and in the end find out that there isn't than to not believe in said power and find out in the end that there is. I have personally experienced spirit working in my life and don't blindly believe anything. Ignorance of spiritual matters is not a valid defence in the court of Yama where one's lifetime is assessed and karmic debt meted out at the end of your current lifetime. As for the Bible it is a spiritually written book that has relevance to one's life on any page that it falls open to at that moment in time. Just because some people have used it to control and subjugate others does not lessen it's real value. There are other spiritually written books that have the same quality (immediate relevance upon opening) that are available to anyone who seeks spiritual truths. This is a debate that will last forever but you must find out for yourself as you grow.

I've been following the many threads in regards to God/Religion and most of what I've witnessed have been some pretty unkind comments made by both the believers and that unbelievers.
Everyone has a right to believe or disbelieve on whatever topic is discussed here.
I don't see how calling someone names or making fun of one anothers comments serve any purpose.
Maybe some people are in need of some communication skills.
I've heard where some people are saying that this site used to be a lot of fun but it's really not too much fun anymore.
No wonder some people have chosen to leave.
Maybe the mods should change the name from Connecting Singles to Disconnecting singles.

At the end of a day, ones personal beliefs are not a lie,....
I am so very much of a scientific background - yet I respect each and every person's right, when they lay their head upon a pillow at night, to deal with their mortality as they see fit, so long as they are not impositional with their beiefs. Even with my scientific background,....and yes, I support the Big Bang,....from Einstein to Hawking, to Bohrs, to Newton,....the WTF about the exact instant it all came to be is still a mystery,....
I indeed seek answers via science and mathematics,....but at the end of the day, when we all ask ourselves how this all came to be,...just keep searching is all I can say,....and respect the rights of others to believe as they see fit,....for ones beliefs are neither a lie or a truth,....just a belief.
