Just reading about that movie and apparently that's where these "anonymous" masks come from. They are meant to be an image of Guy Fawkes, who's made out to be a hero of anti-establishment.

Used to always stick a sausage casserole and baked potatoes in the oven, go watch the fireworks display, come home and thaw out.
As a kid I used to think the celebrations were because it was my birthday the next day.

we had Guy Fawkes night as kids as well, spent most of October dragging dropped branches and timber that had reached its use by date into a big bonfire.
The working dog was always locked safely in the shed and then the fun would begin with crackers and sky rockets if we could afford them.
The bonfire used to generally burn for two days, spuds cooked in the ashes etc, good memories
