Somebody please fire this man. It's hard to believe that the Speaker of the House of Representatives can be so ignorant.
"WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Tuesday that no new regulations are needed after a chemical spill in West Virginia last week left more than 300,000 people without safe tap water. He suggested the incident was not the result of less environmental and energy regulation but of the Obama administration's failure to enforce existing rules.

"The issue is this: We have enough regulations on the books. And what the administration ought to be doing is actually doing their jobs," Boehner said at a press conference. "Why wasn't this plant inspected since 1991?""

DUH John, there is no agency or regulations in existance charged with inspecting chemical storage facilities!

Now I have a question. WHY was a toxic chemical storage facility located a stones throw up stream from the largest water treatment plant in the whole state? The city of Charleston just happens to be the state capital and they get all their water from that plant.

It's called making whatever happens fit your ideology, and it's also framing the debate in the way they want it framed. You know, Republicans say Government won't work - then get elected and prove it! laugh

I don't have time to look for specific examples at the moment, but it's a little like how they use the word "freedom," which usually ends up being the opposite of the word's meaning, like "Free People's Democratic Republic" or something. "Friends of Education" usually ends up being "Enemies of Education" and so on.

When my daughter was moving to another state, I asked her to look into what plants were in her area.

Look and research the land, water and air she would want to bring her children into.

A friend moved from California to the New Your suburbs and she told me of so many abnormalities in the community she lived in.

Just the heading of the thread: I agree.

Democrats forced the shut down and boehner is working for the misadministration in the white house plain and simple.

Ted Cruz and others tried warning the U.S. citizens what obummercare and more will do to the citizens and nation on a large scale.

So here we are, in the U.S., over $17 trillion dollars in debt and growing. What? What's that? We can't even keep citizens working with out them being taxed to death and hours cut but we need immigration reform? More costs to the tax payers. obummer cut nothing that a sequester didn't force.

Keep supporting the marxist regime for those that do. Not much longer and many will learn the hard way that nothing is free. The government doesn't have any money. It's based off, yes, that word, capitalism.

That means people work for living to support their families with opportunities to increase their educational levels and experience for better jobs. Better jobs used to use healthcare and other perks as incentive for people to want to do better. The money the government keeps promising that they don't have is from the taxes that working people, other agency types, and businesses pay in. It's called revenues. When the government spends more than it takes in, like obummer supporting terrorists and development of other countries over the nation and citizens itself, it continually creates debt. That debt continually rolls onto the tax payer.

With out jobs for the citizens first, there will be no recovery for the nation.

the problem actually is GOVERNMENTIUM!

Evolution has produced an element that has become clearly identifiable
in the past decade or two.

Recent hurricanes and gasoline issues are proof of the existence of a
new chemical element. Research has led to the discovery of the heaviest
element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant
neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving
it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which
are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called
peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it
can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes
into contact. A minute a mount of Governmentium can cause a re action
that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to
four years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2-6 years; It does not decay,
but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the
assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact,
Governmentium's Mass will actually increase over time, since each
reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming
isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists
to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a
critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as
critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an
element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has
half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Oops pressed enter by accident before my reply was ready.

My point is that it's not like government wants to protect us from the big bad greedy companies but finds itself unable to do so.

Government is owned by those greedy companies and banks that own the chemical plants and weapons factories and toxic sludge manufacturers (etc).

Both parties are equally corrupt and neither is there to protect the people. There may be a very few individuals with some scruples left but not enough to make any difference.

The righteous indignation of politicians is usually just posturing for political reasons. Most of them are totally corrupt and couldn't care less about the welfare of their constituents.
