Ok Tru, but please explain how women are being degraded by this thread ?????
jac379: Why would truck driving and piloting be of more interest to men that women, Wabbit?
Men (not all men) are more predisposed to working with machines which I guess in some ways is an extension of working with their hands and possibly be attributed to a primal instinct to use tools to provide for their families or to complete a task. Gender equality has opened up these roles to women and there are those who have the same interest levels in these roles as men have already made inroads into these and many other male orientated roles.

truheart1941: ..not so much this thred...but in genral.....on womans capabilities....
I agree Tru, you will notice in the opening post of this thread , the criticism comes from another woman. It is another woman complaining her pilot is a female

tomcatwarne: On the contrary dear Jac, it is the most important and responsible job, I did my share of parenting as did my wife att. Perhaps this is the reason why most women prefer to stay at home instead of trying to pursue careers Is this why you didn't have any career Jac???
Structurally, that reads to me that you think perhaps the reason why most women prefer to stay at home instead of trying to pursue a career is because you and your wife shared parenting your children.
Can you see why I ask for clarification?
What do you think is the reason why most women prefer to stay at home rather than pursue careers?
On what basis do you state that most women prefer to stay at home rather than pursue a career?
What in your opinion constitutes pursuing a career? Are careers a choice, or an option for everyone in your opinion?
What is the reason for not including parenting as a career?
On what basis do you think I haven't had a career?
If you think parenting is the most important and responsible job, what was the reasoning behind you describing jobs traditionally fulfilled by men as 'top notch' in comparison?

Jeews 20 questions!!!!!
My wife and myself both pursued careers and brought up our children successfully with the help of grandparents and family. They are successful and happy adults now.

What evidence do you have that working with machines is a genetic predisposition and that women don't have a primal instinct for working with tools?
Do you think women hunted, or processed kills with their bare hands, whilst men needed tools to do the same job?

From your OP...
tomcatwarne: The author further said he wished WestJet would warn their passengers when a "fair lady" was at the helm so they would have the chance to book another flight.
When two children, a six-year-old girl and a slightly older boy, visited her flight deck last week, British Airways pilot Aoife Duggan asked if they would like to fly planes too. The boy said yes but the girl demurred, saying: "I think I'd like to be an air hostess – boys are pilots." A surprised Duggan says: "I was like, 'No! Come and sit in my seat, wear my hat.' "
Four decades after the first female pilot started work for a commercial airline, there are still relatively few women sitting in Duggan's seat. Of the 3,500 pilots employed by British Airways, just 200 are women, yet the airline still employs the highest proportion of female pilots of any UK airline. Globally, around 4,000 of the 130,000 airline pilots are women, according to the International Society of Women Airline Pilots. Fewer still are captains – worldwide, there are around 450.
How much has changed since Yvonne Pope Sintes became Britain's first commercial airline captain in 1972? Struggling to explain why so few women have followed her, she suggests domestic responsibilities. "Women are just as good as men, but they seem to have more domestic issues and not all of them want to devote themselves to a full-time job."
Yes they should be able to do whatever profession they choose, as long as they are qualified, just as men should be qualified to do a particular job. Certain men should stop being frightened of women, and respect them for there skills, and accept that many have skills that many men have not got a hope in hell of attaining. It works the other way as well. Treat people as individuals.
