I was a bit of a "Tom Boy" when I was young, so have quite a few small scars on my hands, knees, elbows and even feet....from climbing rocks, fences, trees, playing sports, etc...
My biggest scar is about 1 1/2 inches, on the front of my neck, from a spinal surgery I had quite a few years back, to fix a disc that had jarred loose and was splicing my spinal cord. I have human cadaver bones and titanium plate/screws that fixed the problem, though have slight permanent damage from damaged nerve endings. Yet, every day, when I see my scar, I am reminded how I can still walk, dance, hug, etc....so I smile. I was given a second chance at life, as I was literally almost paralyzed from the neck down, so take nothing for granted!
