Friskyone: Two-part question.Should the media be permitted to advertise prescription drugs?AndWhy does the media advertise them? I don't think they should be advertised. I think they are advertised because it's a money-making scheme and leads people to self-diagnose.
But there is a serious medical condition that must get mass media attention to solve, and that is their is far too much money in you, the consumer's pocket and not enough money in ours the prescription medication industry.

Friskyone: Two-part question.
Should the media be permitted to advertise prescription drugs?
And
Why does the media advertise them?

1. I can't think of any prescription drugs that are advertised here in the UK, apart from in medical journals and other medical related media.
2. The media advertises them for profit. They don't do it for free.
Self diagnosing is a bad argument to offer. They couldn't get hold of those drugs without seeing a Dr, who will actually offer them what they need, rather than what they think they need.

Medical companies develop drugs for mainstream illnesses lots of people have and that gets them the big bucks.
Looking at diabetes, depending on type it can be cured by lifestyle changes, yet people are popping pills.
I don't know if it makes a difference tbh. There is enough literature out there and everyone can do their own "research" on the net to find alternative treatment options at least for the stuff caused by bad lifestyle choices.
I do want medication if I need it, but I do also keep an eye on what is really necessary.

Bring it on I say. Bring on the drug pumps and bring on the crack tubes, I just want to stop people suffering. Who needs courage, discipline and proper parenting anymore when there are prescription drugs to answer every personal and psychological deficiency there is?
And I must admit to being very attracted to the idea of chemically altering the moods of people around me, especially my girlfriend's.

There's a cure for diabetes? Maybe you can explain that as over 3 million people in the UK would love to know this secret!
