This subject came up in another thread so i thought i'd start this one to remain on the subject itself and not "hijack"

When a person (like Bill Clinton) decides to take a "public office" job is it right or wrong of the public to have a say and/or judge his personal life?? (ie the Monical Lewinsky scandal)

As well...what about Prince Charles...should he have been allowed to divorce Diana and marry Camilla Parker-Bowles?

Hell YAH!!! One sec . . .
Bill Clinton was an amazing president if I should say so myself. He's still doing good for the better of this planet. No we shouldn't "judge" his private life BUT he comitted adultry - therefore breaking the law. I don't think that removing him from his presidency was fair however he did break the law and "justice needed to be served". if you will.
Prince Charles, like everyone else in this lame world had and still has the right to marry and divorce whomever heso chooses.
If the rest of the world is allowed to marry and divorce so easily than by GOD so should royalty!
You might say I'm a little bitter . . . well . . . I thought marriage meant something . . . I thought there was some kind of foundation that "marriage" was based on - obviously not.
So Bill Clinton - I salute you!
Prince Charles - marry and divorce happily ever after!

What law did Clinton break? Since when is adultry illegal in a Western country. If Im not mistaken, he got in trouble because he got caught and it went public. No law was broken, his conduct unbecoming a sitting US President was called into question. They didn't even have enough evidence to impeach him. Clinton broke no laws.

Reneconfused

Bill Clionton behaviour may not have been appropriate, but his wife is not divorcing him. As for Prince Charles, I think it was high time he stood up for himself and marry the women he truly loves. If Charles wasn't allowed to divorce then it would have been considered discriminating against him, because others are able to get a divorce without question.

Are you intimately familiar with Clinton's wedding vows Pucks? If not, and I assume you are not then to say that is pure speculation on your part.

Well I happen to disagree....

King Edward in 1936 voluntarily abdicated the throne so that he may be with the woman he loved...and so should have Charles...

Bill Clinton was inaugarated into the Presidency....

Both men knew what their position and title meant to their private lives...there would be none!
It was their duty to lead by example...which neither did...

I agree that one's personal life is their own, but not when you live your life in the eyes of the public...that is why one got to be "Prince" and all that entails...and the other "President"..and the paycheque that also came with that...

It may be unfair, but it is the life they willingly chose...they both had the option of stepping down out of public scrutiny, seems neither was willing to give up the "perks" their titles gave them in order to live as a "free man" (average Joe in other words)

That is my opinion...

What they do in private is their business. And Diane was happier after the divorce. Jacqueline Kennedy also found a Greek man. Makes me think Greek men know how to appreciate a good woman. Maybe, Bill's wife should take a vacation.

Do not doubt that i don't appreciate the "stress" they live under...but understand what they do they do by choice...stress and all...

I agree that perhaps they were happier "after"...unfortunately they were not in a position to have that "happiness" during their tenure and they had a responsibility to uphold...one for the Presidency and all it stands for (remember they are being watched by the World leaders here....not just the american papparazzi...) and one for the Crown...(same as above)

I can't sympathize...we all have choices...

hehehehe Wonder what inspired you to write this wink

As I said. Yes I can understand that what Bill's job was is not like any ordinary job but what he does with his personal life is still none of our business. It has nothing to do with his work and his country. I think things like that should be kept between him and his family.

As for Prince Charles. Again that is up to him. We don't live with these people therefor we have no clue what really goes on behind closed doors do we. So again its his life. Do I condone what he did to Diana? No but again why should I have a say in it? It has nothing to do with me personaly. So why should I care?

Again that is just my opinion of course :)

guess they were judged because they are public figures and people think that what they do reflects on their country..so therefore, the moral thing. What do others think?

Also, I would not of wanted to hear what Bill Clinton did with Monica or that Prince Charles had a lover being married.

Very poor taste to hear about it.

When President John Kennedy had the affair in the 60-s (marilyn Monroe) I don=t think it was in the newspapers.

Times have changed, that everything is now on the table and no secrets are allowed.

Does it help our world?dunno handshake
