I want everybody's opinion on it, are you guys up for it or against it?? Tell me the pros and cons you guys see on having or not having a death penalty, why or why not and so on....
Me: I am personally up for it, I believe in "an eye for an eye" and of course it wont take back what has been taken from the victims... But I think I mostly see pros than cons on death penalty. I'm up for all answers, and I'm sure you guys would keep them quite interesting... ;)
I myself am up for it if the legal system would stop being wimps. oh the person is sick we cant kill him. where I live a man killed n ate part of his ex. back in the good ole days he would have been shot on site. but the legal system wants to be humane. why don't they think of the victim. we'ld save money if the just wack the ppl on death row. instead of letting them die of old age

Agree, specially wen we have to pay taxes for those criminals. I think their family needs to support them, not the community. Specially wen there r victims involved, they shouldn't be forced to pay taxes for those who harmed them...

While I ugly agree with both posts here, I would go one step further in carrying out the sentence of death, that it would “fit the crime” . Most crimes that end in a death are extremely violent and brutal. So it should be to the perpetrator, even if he beaten his victims with a baseball bat, he would be also, etc. etc. There has never been a shortage of hangmen, electrocutioners, volunteers for a firing squad or stranglers, so I’m sure there would be those that would be able to deal with a death sentence to resemble what was done. Having spent a lot of time covering wars in both Africa and South America, I have never found an army there that did not execute many criminals when they got the chance; open the cells, drag them out back or to some ditch and Bang…very efficient, very timely. I like that. What I found messy was dozens thrown up against a wall and the firing ‘squad’(usually all drunk) just kept shooting until they had finally stopped moving or making sounds…very messy but they liked doing it thet way...

It is a very difficult topic to handle as it cuts through the realms of a most sensitive account against humanity.
And while I agree there are those that are just plain cold, heinous criminals yet our process is so complicated and very expensive. I do favor on a case to case basis.
There are people that can be rehabilitated, perhaps that is why it is called CORRECTION facility? But for the same token there are truly hard core no good for anything that deserve to be just as dead. I am so cautious on this one Sandra.

I'm for it, providing the punishment fits the crime. The one thing I don't like is, when those who are on death row must sit and wait 20 to 30 years before they are executed, this is not justice. This is inhuman treatment, as I see it.
The time limit should be reformed, and execution carried out within 5 to 10 years after sentencing, no longer. Shouldn't take that long for an appeal to take place, it should be in a timely manner plus, many cases are not waiting for appeals.
After a person has sat on death row past 10 years, I truly feel that person's sentence should be reversed to life in prison... justice cries for balance, not an improper false balance... injustice within our court system speaks loudly when a person is made to wait for years to die for a crime committed 20 or 30 years before.

Instead of the death penalty their should be uber austere and cheap to run prisons for serious offenders with no hope of rehabilitation. I would call these prisons harsh pounds.

I'm against the death penalty. I don't believe anyone has the right to take another person's life. I think a life sentence with no possibility of parole is a much more effective way to make a person suffer for their crime. They have to live with themselves on a daily basis. The death penalty lets them off too easy.

Disgraceful I should get the death penalty for that.
If I were stupid, crazy or insane enough to kill someone, being taken care of 24x7 with food, shelter, health care, recreation, the availability of a library, TV, heat, and cooling would be wonderful.

Ahh... well, sounds like a good idea. I have some friends that say while the US sends military folks (that have friends and family that love them) to die in combat. They say that they need to start sending prisoners to Afghanistan instead. <--- they failed the country and the community by committing a crime in the 1st place. Why not serve the country by protecting it?? They should make a new branch that is just for prisoners, send those first, not the marines or the army.
