I think some people are happy to delude themselves and don't want to see the truth as it might be inconvenient to a choice they made.
It's hard to keep your wits about you when feelings are involved and some people can have a bigger grip on that then others.
Also, if it's only for a legover, some people don't give a damn about someone's character.

I never was a councillor by the way,
I have a friend and she in aa and went into rehab and she said she found the ones that had found sobereity made the best one because they understood,
Now she did mention a woman that just had a different approach in that she could come across as very tough at times but it was her way and underneath she was very understanding and had a soft side when it came to the crux ,it's just she never showed it too much my friend said,
In life the best people who are not trained councilers can be the best too it's just in them to be like that,

You say that as if it's a bad thing.
My tolerance levels for BS are low and I just can't listen to some stuff for a long time. 
I might give someone the benefit of doubt for a while, but yeah, I usually do have a gut feeling about stuff like that. I'm stuck inside for the next 1,5 weeks tearing out my hair. No more nights out since last night.

My highest regard and my deepest contempt is usually reserved for men(I just prefer to talk about women). If something wonderful or something terrible happens it's usually because of a man whereas there's a limit to how stupid or brilliant women usually are.
I would say this is because a safe average is better for raising children, you can't afford the risks, and I often compare the nature of woman to the purpose of bureaucracy - it ensures mediocrity in all things.

And I would also say that this is why women love love LOVE to be made to feel and told that they are unique. The way women live their lives day in day out doesn't naturally provide this feeling of being anything special, original or different, whereas if you actually are a character then you don't need anyone to tell you this.
This is also why girls love to accessorise. Accessorising manufactures a superficial feeling that you are different to those around you.

And then I would see men nearly falling over themselves to attract her!
And that makes me re-evaluate about their good judgement.

There's a host of scientific evidence which says that women are risk-avoiding and have narrower ranges of intelligence etc. i.e. in total women are altogether more in the middle and samey. E.g. we're still waiting for the female equivalent of John Lennon or Mozart.. I wonder why?
