I believe you are right. I'm not sure about today, 12 years ago though, there were few support networks for men here. Married couples who were friends, maybe just social friends, became more scarce, too.

I think the older I get there is a good chance that quite a few of the available men will be widowers. I also know that a lot of fake mail comes from people who say hello beautiful my name is so and so. My wife and child died in a car wreck five years ago etc........... I have actually gotten the same letter from a few different men. Maybe they are copying and pasting each others
So I am unsure what you are shocked about tho. Still nice to see your face again

I know I for one, treat anybody who is widowed and/on in the armed forces a little more suspiciously (well, a lot really!

It is a transition for both widow and widowers. I felt like I no longer fit in with my married friends and I did not fit in with my single friends. Now a days most my friends are either in relationships or married but most are not the same friends I had when I was married

I only list myself on dating sites as a widower because the option is there and I want to be honest. However, I've wondered it I would be dishonest to just list myself as single instead of widower. I am single, too.

It took me a long time to realize and accept this. I thought times like when you lose a spouse was what my friends were about. Not. It was like sailing at sea without a compass (or orther directional assistive devices), then I healed. Guys aren't supposed to survive their wives.
