Symbol it is. But I am not surprised if many will find a flag more than "just" that.... and as a symbol, a quite important and defining symbol for a very large populous of the people that live in the world. In some events you see many flags together. Even that in itself becomes a new symbol or definition of those that choose to relate to those unique symbols some call "Flags". A larger unity can give many impressions around the world and so on....

I believe it will be more insidious, to hijack the American flag and make patriotism a top-down liberalist agenda would be more likely in future. The Liberals will turn about face on the national question and embrace civic nationalism in a vain attempt to prevent multi-culti from falling apart and the races from killing each other.
You'll see increasing references to your country and your flag as a way of deceiving people. The powers that be will hijack these symbols to make emotional and earnest fly-over patriots subordinate to a crafty and liberal New York agenda.

Cris, yes it is a symbol, but not just, most of the case it carries with that symbol the sentiment of the people concerned in a given time of it's own history, be it agreable or glorious, or the the suffering and the emancipation/deliverance of a race who suffered from external/internal aggressions, and most of the case in the struggle, bloods were shed and life perished, it's a way of honoring and respecting those who sacrificed their lives for the love of their land, i love and respect the symbol of my country and people and it's history.

when Americans look at their flag they see ,land of the free and home of the brave. but the way things are going I think home of the free will be a fond memory. in short the politicians are screwing up the country. they want control of the people. like it said things have changed from 20 to 30 years ago. I feel bad for all who have died for their country just to see it go down.

,, the truth is that, Greece just wanted to show they believe in UE, and UE just doing the same thing as to Greece,, the 2 shares the blame anyway,,, let the germans settle something with what they owed , that might help? Greece can never repay what they owe from all their creditors, but there's something in Greece that's useful for Europe,, and everybody is aware of that
