Germany is the economic power house of the EU.
They don't like the Greeks resisting, shoving down our throats their
will, how themselves they feel fit. They act like the teacher repremanting nutty school boys,by saying ""you behave like you are told and be obedient""
Also our new PM in parliament made clear, that Greece, WILL demand from Germany reparation,.- 1.- From borrowing from the Greek Central
bank, and since the war only pay 20% of the loan.
2.- Damage reparation during the war to Greece infrastructure.
3.- For starving 1/2 million Greeks to death because of hunger.(the
food during the war,was directed to German Army in the North
of Africa.
The estimate by the Greek government is, with
current prices,in the region of 350€ billion.
4.- In addition vilages with their population wiped out and
killed by the Germans, demand compensation for their relatives,
shot and killed during the war.
Those demands,if ever presented to Germany,is the cause IMO,
to want to pressurise Greece,to stop claiming such reparations
in the near future.

crayons: I dont know, I dont usually agree with cris, but he makes a good point. the IMF is a pain in the butt, just look what the global banks did to us in dec bribing congress to sign on the US taxpayer over 300 trillion in derivative gmbling debt insurance with cromnibus, we also have bailed out euro several times in the past and look at the bribes coming from the big laundromat banks to pass obozotrade, over 5 million to boehner over 200 million in total bribes to others, my opinion is greece was politically strong armed into the euro from the git go, same thing happened to argentina many moons ago.

am hoping chis will give us the scoop since he lives there.

I just want to say this.

I never met my grandfather from my fathers side,
because he died of hunger during the German occupation of Greece.
2 wars without success, trying to conguer Europe, but right now the job
almost done economically.-
You forgot to mention, about the bribes paid by germans to get the contracts. You aren't that innocent,as you think you are.
Nidifugous: Greece was not strongarmed into the Euro. It was a political decision and the country borrowed too much money at low interest rates without having the ability to pay it back. They borrowed billions to build the olympic stadium which now serves no purpose. That's just one example sort of like Alaska's bridge to nowhere or the Mexican border wall where money was thrown out the window. Greece's politicians have a lot to answer for. So in order to divert public anger away from their own mismanagement of the money, they went and blamed the Germans. Everyone knows this. Even the most recent proposal by the new president shields their own rich. Everyone knows this as well, but it's just so much easier to blame someone else. It happens all the time.

Sad to note that Greece too hadn't seen what's coming,, they were not able to anticipate anything, easy life is so tempting, but sometimes it's hard to assume the consequences.

Germany paid reparations to others, so I think this is the best moment to negotiate both subjects between Merkel and Tsipras.

Finally, who will accept what conditions? Germany, Greece or all the EU? Who pays what, to whom?

An agreement in 1934 and 1953,between the victors of the 2 wars,
and Germany, stopped paying reparations.- Greece has recieve only for the 2nd WW 20€ milion, while the current estimate, for reparations,
is 350€ billions, according to the Greek estimates.-

Ok, but it's a german duty and not concerning to the european bankers. Except that they would be very happy to have a debt of Germany instead of Greece.

Greece said NO and well done!

Do people not realize that the mainstream media is a corporation and they don't have the people's interests in mind when "informing" the public.

Greece said NO but The Man From Del Monte will be sent in soon enough.

Pay up,reparations Germany owes to Greece from WW2.
And the problem solved.
Reparations for the atrocities committed to Greece during WW2 from
the superior race and civilised Germans.-
For our present debt to all countriew, including Germany.-

Exactly! There are too many people playing "I know best" just because they watch TV and read newspapers...
What really pisses me off is that they insist to know better than the citizens of the certain country...and I am not talking only the case with Greece...wine

Pedro, you are right, and it seems the PM Tsipras is playing the nerves of the euro group in displaying a provocative attitude, smiling and so relaxed prime minister against the crisp & so serious members, hope he will not bring with him , the Greeks to his downfall. Whatever cards left for him to play, then let him play, the Greeks are the worst victim of their politicians caprice, quite far from the sufferings of the people.

No,, we are used to €€€€. I hear most Greeks, don't want to
change and go back to (Drachma ???).
But we going to immigrate to Ireland, 1/2 million of us,
to replace the the 1/2 million Irish immigrated from Ireland the last
7 years,as the result of the austerity of the EU,imposed to Ireland.
