If you sit still watching your thoughts (meditation) thoughts travel bit like one those news news taps, we are actually kind of clinking onto the changing thought until we sort of let it go then grasp the next string of thoughts, in my experiences bit like trying to reach an answer without finding one then we grasp the next subject string of thoughts again never getting to end or answer then grasp the next string subject
Other form called single pointed concentration you mindfully grasp the thought without distraction research whether its an ultimate truth or not. Any subject represents either an ultimate truth, or its nature is interdependent in that it relies in dependents with some other aspect or other aspects. An ultimate truth is finite...or its interdependent on other factors
For anyone interested that sought meditation thought process is used to understand the nature of:
the absence of inherent existence in all phenomena
neither permanent nor non-existing, and that is, ultimately, how things are
the truth (or reality) of suffering the truth (or reality) of the origin of suffering the truth (or reality) of cessation the truth (or reality) of the path
