All religions have pagan roots, because all people have pagan roots.
Christianity took over pagan festivals to win over the crowd, rather than trying to replace them.
Sometimes it was very successful. Eg.Celebrating Christmas instead of Winter Solstice.
But All-Souls Day never beat Halloween

Just because a belief was the most backward does not make you earthy and authentic by believing in some 21st century pretentious equivalent of that belief.

Mike, I went the same route as you except my dad didn't whip me with a clutch cable, he just wasn't around. I'm not sure which is worse, a brute like your dad or an absent one like mine.

Maybe because I live in a country where signs of our early ancestors and their beliefs are still present, and alive, that it is easier to be aware of, and feel , our roots.

As an infant, I begged for my life, my hands and feet had third degree burns.
Words were far and few between, all I wanted was to live.
When I learned of Christ and his suffering, hands and feet had something to do with it, I had to thank Christ for my life.
Pagan is my love of Christ because I understand his suffering.
