WhatUwish4: Growing up with two older brothers, I spent the first six years of my life as something between tortured pet and a scientific experiment. ("Let's throw her off the top of the bunk bed and see if she bounces.")

But by the time I hit my teenage years I was in full retaliation mode and pranking them in the worst ways. Chocolate covered soap, letters and phone messages from fake secret admirers, the odd pot seed left in their pants pockets for mom to find... you name it.

Now when we have family get togethers they always look at me like "I wonder what she's got planned for me now."

My brother in high school decided to be a wrestler. He being
5 years old than me used me to practice on. He made me very
mad because I could never win. I suppose that is why he is a
democrate and I am a republican. laugh

WhatUwish4: What about you? Surely there were some mischievous things in your toddler past? Inquiring minds want to know!

I am not one to kiss and tell but I think I have something that will fill a page or so that is ok to put on this site.

When I was a young guy, about 11 or 12, I had a train trestle that was close to my home and crossed the Willamette river over to the west side. On the riverbank you could look up and see an old wooden ladder that was much too high to reach. Beyond that the ladder went up and was attached to the area high high above where the train tracks towered high above and even higher than the track were the large metal arches that many bridges have for design and structure.

Finialy one day I decided to go up to a point where we could walk on the 4x6 beams..maybe they were bigger. But as you balanced along those the ground below got further down. So that day I walked that tightrope board and made it to the ladder. I was about 3-4 feet away from it as it was level with me now but the board stopped before it made it to the old Wooden ladder. I hesitated but eventually leaped onto the ladder, my adrenaline was shooting through my veins. I was hanging on to the rungs of the ladder and started to go up. I can say that the ladder went up about 100 feet. Maybe more. In the center area where I suppose the wind and rain were really worse for wear on that ladder I saw the rungs were rotten and I was very weary of putting my weight on them. I managed to traverse my way up though. I stood up there and could see for miles. I also looked down and it was pretty scary and I did not look down a lot. So after that I had probably done what every parent would just be scared to see their child do such a crazy stunt. I became a regular there and not so long after we made the next big move. (Crossing the trestle before a train came) but that is enough naughty talk for now I suppose.

WhatUwish4: I fell off a roof when I was in kindergarten and broke my wrist. I don't remember getting into trouble for being on the roof, which could have been deadly - but when I tried to sneak up to the pool to swim (which wasn't allowed because of the cast), my mom caught me halfway up the street and tanned my hide.

My mom always did have strange priorities.

no, I was always 100 percent focused...well pretty close anyway. that train trestle became a big part of my childhood on into high school and a few years after. Since it was the 70's ( we wore platforms with bell bottoms! ) and I started to go to the High School in that area I crossed that daily in the morning and hitchhiked up the road to school. I got to the point to where I would race some of my friends and a few times the train did come and we would have to hang from the side, or if you were close to the end you just had to be careful as the railroad ties were further apart. In the middle you could actually go down a side ladder and hide on the huge concrete piling that was where the arches met.....the other place but I did not suggest was to go up the arches but that was not so smart to do in Platforms while a train is blowing it's horn!

When I was 8 yrs old , Me and my cousin who was 12 , went to the country side in India and were having some really good time.We saw a group of horses and few donkeys grazing in the grasslands . We got super excited and wanted to mount a horse and may be ride them. The horses wee sooo huge ( in fact we were too small for them..lol ) so I was so scared to go near them. But I was sooo determined to ride a horse , so my idiotic cousin told me to mount a donkey as it will be easier for us , and he told that donkeys are very gentle animals . So both of us went slowly behind the donkey and tried to mount from behind. The donkey got so pissed offf..heee kicked us with his hind legs soo harddd that we ran as far as we could and trust me never looked backk...lol

My sister and I had a fight. She was about 6 I was 10. We fought all the time, not just word fights. One time she made me so mad I threw a shoe at her.

She ducked and it went broke the glass on the patio storm door. I panicked and was scared to death cause I knew my father would lace into me when he came home from work.

I was always around my father when he fixed things around the house so I knew how to use a yard stick or measuring tape to measure something.

I measured the space for the glass and rode my bicycle to the lumberyard to buy a new piece of glass. I told the man at the desk what happened and he sold me the glass. He knew my father cause the lumberyard was next to the railroad that my father worked for.

So I went home, took the molding off the area carefully, put the glass in and tacked the molding back on the door. And I never told my father.

But guess who did tell him. I didn't know until much later on that my father knew about it and he actually thought it was quite funny. He was even proud that I knew how to measure the window space.

That's actually quite impressive! You must have been one smart kid. handshake My daughters should have learned from you. They broke the dining room window TWICE in one month playing catch in the driveway (which I had told them not to do a million times). We had five acres of wide open flat land and they just HAD to play in the driveway frustrated I "billed" them $300 each after the second disaster. Poor little tykes worked all summer to pay that off in chores.. but they never broke it again.

I reckon your Daughters were relieved to of finally paid off the $600 debt ... probably after much consternation too mumbling ... laugh
But these (glass) stories recalls the memory of myself as a young lad at approximately 8 or 9 years of age playing alone in the back yard. For some reason i entertained the thought of doing something daring (and stupid) and looking at the glass backdoor leading out from the laundry, decided to run straight at and through it just for fun.
And so i set off as fast as my little legs could take me, and just before i impacted the glass, i had at least enough sense to offer my face some protection by raising my arms in front, as well as bracing myself before leaping and smashing my way right through the glass door.
My Mum hearing the calamity came dashing into the laundry to my aid and checked me all over. Thankfully i was unhurt and without a single scratch ... unlike the trashed door.
My mum asked me what had happened ?, but naturally feeling bad as well as crazy, i lied to her simply stating that i was running towards the door to come inside when my foot tripped on the step and i couldn't stop myself crashing though after stumbling... she accepted my story and was just thankful that i was unharmed.
Anyway not sure how much the glass would of cost to of been replaced, but fortunately with my Dad being a Glazier by trade, didn't have to worry about the labour costs involved anyway.
I never did tell my Late Parents the truth later in life.... bless them teddybear

Funnily enough, there just so happened to be the old Superman television series screening on the telly... as well as a Japanese series called "Samurai" you may recall ?. But being a fan, i had even painted a helmet in Samurai colours and wore it whilst riding my little scooter around the streets as well giggle

Believe me, it wasn't easy lying to Mum, but just found it so hard (and ashamed) to tell the truth in that situation... In fact later in life my Mum use to tell me i was too honest for my own good...
hmmm i sometimes think i would of been better off if i did lie my way through life laugh

There used to be a black and white show, maybe Shintaro, about the ninjas. At the start of each show, the ninjas would all run past a fire and put a little piece of wood in each. Then the last guy would push the fire holder over. And so we would go round the schoolyard with a ruler tucked into our socks, thats how you could tell who watched the show.
The other highlight, as always, was the start of the Thunderbirds with the countdown and then the oil refinery blowing up.
