mikemo68: Is a sign of bravery. Amy ChuaI love this quote. If this is your case,Are you very conscious of your accent when you speak another language? I am not, to be honest. When I speak English I am worry about the pronunciation so that I am understood rather than my accent.I really want to pronounce everything correctly. At the moment, I know my accent sounds rather Spanish in English. Also, I have friends from different countries and I love their accent when they speak English (and they are awesome).
So out of curiosity
What do you think about foreign accent? Do you really like them or not?
Reading what you have written, I remembered an anecdote about some "-tios madrileños-", climbing in Yosemite, looking for a translator because they were unable to that someone could understand the peculiar way of pronouncing they had.

You meant, that they couldn't speak the language well because of lack of knowledge or the spanish accent was quite strong? Because when you have a good comand of any language, everyone can understand you.
Recently I was in Ireland, and I ran out of deodorant. So I went to the chemist and the girl had a really strong accent. I told her I needed some deodorant, and she asked- "ball-type or aerosol?". I explained it was for my armpits.
