I have lived here in the Pacific NW (Oregon) USA over 50 years. I have less and less ties to keep me here every year, maybe every month! lol.
I think that I would be happier and more productive somewhere else. I am not ruling out the USA entirely but it has never been my first choice though being a citizen here it does make some things a bit easier if I just moved within the Country but I think that is not a good enough reason to stay.
I am hoping that possibly some others have made a similar decision and might have some insight.

If it is purely a geographic move, check out the things that are most important, climate, cost of living, standard of living, visas, quality of life, etc. Then go with your gut instinct after that.

If you step one foot on our green & pleasant land, I'll be straight on the phone to Brexit .
Just kidding.. A trip around Europe may be a good idea.. With so many different culture & customs , you may find somewhere where you will be spiritually connected with.

Thank You Molly. amoungst your keen sense of humour I detect a level head on those lovely shoulders. Yep, Geographical. Affordability, acceptance, not running to or from. Just making a new home and to do my best so it is good for another 50 years or close to that.

No need to worry, I have been there on my way to Dublin more than once and even the short time in "Heathrow" was enough to scare the living daylights from me.

I have pondered this and definitely would love to travel more and experience more of what this world has to offer. For me climate and societal inclusiveness would be important factors in the decision. I have lived abroad before and maybe will again. I think we are lucky here in the EU with free movement of people, and a wide variety of culture and peoples to choose from, as there can be many constraints in gaining residence elsewhere.
I think its a very individual decision and based on our wants and needs one size does not fit all. You are reasonably well travelled, from what I know, so this should help make an informed decision.

Yep, thought long and hard. Final decision partly due to the instability around the world. I chose to stay in America. Better life, better medical and familiarity is always a consideration.....

Good luck in whatever you decide.
Thanks, I appreciate the "Good Luck". And you are right, I do have at least some experience living in more than a few places around the world and not just for a few days at a time but when possible to become more submerged into the day to day life. I have a feeling that one of the biggest challenges will be the ability to be a true legal resident in whatever place I decide to live. And that is important to me for stability and just peace of mind. I have not been down South that much (South America), I wish I would have spent more time there and actually went further then I did (which was not much to speak of), but I have known others from my area that have moved and are still living in Mexico. They are also Musicians and one has even done pretty well in building a very nice recording studio and they have a band that plays on a regular basis but not aspiring to be anything global..just having a nice time and staying on top of things. I used to do a young ladies hair for quite awhile before she up and moved all the way to Belize. She moved there with her boyfriend that was fleeing the country..lol..(not what I am doing) and I did here of some crazy stories but of course that can happen most anywhere. But I wonder about Brazil, that would definitely be a lot farther but I know very little about the laws or the Government. As for the weather I would welcome it from what I have read. I appreciate the input. I think it is a good time in my life to at least put this in front of me so I do not feel like I did not make a serious assessment of where I will spend the next half of my life.

mollybaby: Of the countries I have been to, only Spain and Cuba would be ones I'd even vaguely consider moving to. But Cuba is a bit far for practical purposes.
It's been quite awhile but I really enjoyed several places in Spain. Actually liked Portugal as well. But getting around in Madrid was very easy and there was a thriving city that seemed pretty friendly. And the other places in Spain that were not as modernized also had a very good feeling about them. It would be a definite stretch and as far as what I brought with me I would have to really make some serious downsizing...or have a shipping container if I found that I could do it for a reasonable price. lol. Lots to consider.
In answer to your thread. I have travelled across Canada quite extensively in the past One end to the other..never really laid down roots so to speak
It is dam cold up here though..-40 a week ago for like 2 weeks every winter here If you decide up here...get yourself some all weather clothes
Seriously though, Ive never been USA side, but Canada has some awesome scenic provinces
Good Luck in your journey
Aw, Thanks Lilith, Merry Christmas to you too! Just sitting here on Christmas Eve wishing I would have already moved last year but in all fairness I was still up in the air with some transactions. But now really seems obvious that I just don't fit in with the way this area has changed and a lot of the people I used to interact with both Family and Friends have either died or just went another direction. LOL> and it's bit cold here as well. I have never really thought of moving to Canada, in fact I have never even visited. Probably is surprising to some but I guess it just seemed like it would be a lot like here except for some of the laws and all...but maybe I should take a closer look. I really would like to find an area where the sun comes out and there is the possibility to get a nice "Dive" in some Warmer waters though. I bet there are some very beautiful places there in Canada as well. All the best. Dragos

Dragos...
Thank you I have moved so many times in my life, I quit counting,(over 800) I always check a place out or area before I move, google is great for that, pics too. I dont think I ever "fit" in...I just boinged myself there and went with the flow. Some provinces are more adaptable than others, just like life itself.. Ive never had any reason to stay in one place so was easy to pull up all roots and go. Always took care of bizzness beforehand though. Never burn bridges! Canada has some pretty wicked places to see and visit, and lots of friendly people. Depends what your into really.. Laws here are wee bit more relaxed

Ken_19: A guy named Snowden says Russia is nice. Why not try there??
Gee Thanks "Ken", I haven't been there but pretty close. I don't know if it is really the place I am seeking though. Is it a place you have been to often? I am not so familiar with the language either...but I suppose after awhile one can pick it up. Merry Christmas Ken.

I think I'd like to something challenging again if possible. I think maybe I'd like to move to China and try and help develop public awareness outreach programs to empower citizens to bug their government to take actions to improve air quality conditions. However I'm too lazy to learn both Chinese written spoken languages.
