Happygolucky4u: It is my belief we are contaminating our own food supplies. So I am not looking at the size of the world. More or less on the thinking of the lands that now are unsuitable for growing because they are contaminated with chemicals. Which drifts off into our water supplies. The sadly disappearing bee that pollinates. More and more of the stuff we are eating is not really food anyhow I do agree food waste is astronomical. Here it actually cost more to get healthy good food than junk food that is made out of many things But then in a way the rich are already culling with the wars they are producing. I do wish the best for China as I do for the world as a whole. Yet every action we make in life has an echo. Lets hope for good positive echoes
China is actually taking the environment more seriously, more quickly, than most of the western world. I think it will beat us in improving quality.
Huge corporations should not be in charge of food supply. And don't even get me started on Monsanto... If the bees are killed off, that will allow them to push their GMO food and hold us all to ransom. People have to be more outspoken in their opposition of pesticides and other killers being poured into our food.

In China the state pension can receive only those who have been working in the public service and those who have been working in the industry. The rural population doesn't get any pension at all. (There are no private pension funds.)
Traditionally children take care about their old parents. If a family has only one child, and he/she dies, the parents are left on their own, or simply they left without means of livelihood in their old age.
So, this is a good news for China people in many ways.

Happygolucky4u: I feel like this is a double edge sword. I am glad the people have a choice and sad because the worlds water and food supply is quickly dwindling away. I have watched the population grow here since I was a little girl. Now we are faced with many obstacles You know many animals are culled I cannot help but to wonder is the direction man kind is heading? Barbaric thought yes but in all honesty a large population uses the resources that we need to live.

But the amount of food waste being thrown into land fill due to out of control consumerism is disgusting.
About 40% of all food in the US goes to landfill, and 30% worldwide.
That could feed an awful lot of people.
