It was very sad and he wouldn't give up, almost became a stalker. Been some years and hope he has found a true love, or that he is feeling good about life. Didn't do it to hurt him. Did it to take care of me. It was right decision but I don't like hurting anyone so it was sad.

One2note: Mine ended about a month ago . I was seeing a lady on & off , for a couple of weeks, until she gave me an ultimatum, either stop smoking or we're over.
I gave it about a minute of careful thought & consideration & I decided to say my farewells & wished her luck in the future.
I know it sounds heartless but where does the constant need to control end? If she didn't like my habit, why did she agree to date me initially ?

2 weeks and 3 dates is not a relationship, it's just dating. Anybody who tries to give an ultimatum at this stage is not somebody worth dating! As an anti-smoker myself, I still think you did the right thing, you should be your authentic self: give in on this point and so early on and where would it end?

It's a possibility, but highly unlikely, as I was the one who terminated the relationship, purely on the grounds mentioned.

I compare new relationships, to a "water melon".... You never know what they're like until you open them up... In other words, what looks good on the outside, may not necessarily be good on the inner.

A classic case of " drifting apart" but 11 years is considered a lifetime in today's climate.
