~ I am trying to figure out why Kamikaze pilots wore helmets, can you help? ~

it been on my mind since I was small and saw a photograph of just such a pilot... and even today, I still wonder about...

thats another one, if they are so good at saving lives, why not fit then in buses?... and why are some drivers exempt? please don't get me wrong, I am all for seat belts, as long as they are fitted correctly and anchored at 5 points, like a racing harness, then they work and work well, its the lap sash I have problems with...

They still had to get to the place where they were going to do the damage

When you are warm and comfortable, you are less likely to get distracted

yea that's possible, but the way I heard it was, they were strapped and bolted into the cockpit so they couldn't get out even if they wanted to... bizarre... sigh

I can sort of see your point, but as I commented earlier, they were strapped in the seat and the cockpit bolted down... missing the target is an entirely different proposition...

They were fur lined leather helmets ... no impact protection at all, but those days the cockpit was unheated and y'd not wanna freeze to death on the way to your death eh ???
