What is your reason for putting years old photos on your profile? ( Archived) (11)

Mine is only a couple months old.Why people use years old photos is something that I had found when I had joined a non-dating site.

As someone else had posted a few moments ago if they aren't looking it shouldn't matter but if they were/are looking I wouldn't wish to be the person that they've agreed to meet up with.

The reason is very simple, to make better impression (when you were younger, you looked prettier and more appealing), and because believe or not, like it or not, all people like nice and pretty faces.

We are all weak to beauty. That’s the reason why many use fake pics here as well lol.

I prefer live cam chat where I can see someone’s true face and you can see mine too. ^_~

As we all know a picture paints a thousand words. Many may or may not have a face to launch 1000 ships
Nevertheless, there are many flowers here who look like a dream and or a nightmare depending upon individual taste. Even if their pics are 20 years old or more we all create an image of who we perceive ourselves to be but, it may not be our reality. Youth and beauty walk hand in hand and it is something we all tend to hold onto. 14th century explorers searched for the fountain of youth more so than their quest for gold. That's how important we place beauty and youth. Youth and physical beauty fades and yet, finding the beauty within is the true treasure. Unfortunately, many choose not to reveal their treasure except to their select few. One must measure beauty from within for exterior beauty fades. We can complain of people placing fake pics and fake profiles or even those who don't post a pic at all. We place value of people more by looks first when shopping and browsing then by personality and perception of what we say of ourselves on our profiles and what we convey in the blogs and forums. Overall, everyone has their reasons why they are loitering around here hoping for some kind of intellectual and emotional connection. There is no rhyme or reason why people say or do the things they say or do. In the end if many have no intention in finding a friend or lover it matters not if they post an old pic or any pic.

I think all the reasons have already been given here.

As for myself, I don´t care if the guy has a pic or not as I am attracted to the brains .. and personality, and the written word is what impresses me first.
The rest, the outer shell, is only superficial.

If I am impressed first by his personality then... some time down the line... I would also like to see what he looks like. Maybe it has something to do with age?


As for my photos, they are all recent, the latest being only one month old.
Now, if I were to post some pics of myself when I was 40, or 50 even, I would even have more emails than I have now! Although I wrote that I´m only here for the blogs!
Sometimes I hide my profile because of it, just to get a break from this site.

A lot of CS members don't post a picture at all, this leavesa lot to the imagination, and is self defeating unlesss they provide phots on request.
