Inthewoods: That's what happened with me, my Uncle took me out with a bb gun, showed me a pigeon on the barn, and told me to shoot it, I did, and it landed on the ground alive, fluttering around in pain... I never shot anything alive again... It left a bad experience for me, killing something, at a young age...

My lesson was with a squirrel and a air rifle. Shot it but it was still alive, I kept putting pellets into it but the damn thing wouldn't die. I felt so bad that I never shot anything again.
At the very least it should be legal for that age group already addicted to buy substitutes, like vaping products.

ali110: What about Tobacco Farming and industry , wouldn't it effect the Tobacco business?
If kids don't start smoking, they are less likely to start as adults.
As adults they don't have to prove they're grown up and smoking loses it's appeal.
To target youngsters is a psychological tactic which is perhaps more likely to reduce smoking that putting prices up. Once someone is addicted, they'll pay.
The money is worth finding for kids who want to prove how grown up they are.
A lot of youngsters these days vape anyway. Vaping fluids come in nice flavours and some produce the kind of vapour that the kids can create patterns with.
At some point, all the changes designed to reduce tobacco use will likely put farmers out of business. It may be a slow process, though.

I think the vaping here contributed to increasing the age. Vape shops popped up everywhere selling grape and fruit punch flavored vape juice. The intention to appeal to kids was pretty apparent., and working.

well , if the young children wouldn't have enough money to fulfill their simple desires some of them may go to wrong way , that's a big question also .
The rise in prices may rise the price of tobacco as well , that's slightly supportive for farmers I think .

This is my concern too, it's a recipe for disaster.
I think we're going to see more convenience store robberies.
It's also sets people up to be exploited if they can't service their addiction legally.

No, Ali.
The rise in price is done through taxation, not through giving more money to the farmers.
Tobacco is the perfect example of the total hypocrisy in society. Smokers are demonized and nanny'd to death by the government, taxed to the hilt and told they are "less" than other citizens.
The government will NOT make tobacco illegal though and take it off the market completely. They love the tax revenue too much so from one side of their mouths, they condemn smokers yet the other side of them, they love the money from the taxes more than the health of the population.

In my country it's forbidden for persons under 18. Well, we have learned that since all the new smoking products like ecigarettes etc. cigarettefactories put more addictive stuff in their cigarettes. Everybody knows today that smoking is unhealthy. People that still smoke don't take good care of themselves.
I remember ANYONE could buy a pack of cigarettes out of a cigarette machine for 45 cents. On any military base it was 25 cents. Drinking in Louisiana was allowed at 18. I got my 2nd DUI @ 19 while a student partying at LSU. The Bicentennial summer of 1976... I spent in jail. And that was BEFORE M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) Ahhh The good ol' days. Smokin' and a drinkin'. Wreckin' your '63 Corvette Sting Ray. And the girls....
