Turn turn turn was written by folk singer/writer Pete Seeger. All the words except "turn turn turn" and "I swear it's not too late" are from the old testament of the Bible in Ecclesiastes chapter 3, verses 1-8. Pete Seeger marched with Martin Luther King, wrote the first book on how to play the banjo, and built a sailing ship the sloop Clearwater which he sailed on the Hudson River in NYS and influenced people to clean up the then dirty river which had a lot of pollutants and raw sewage going into it. About 30 years ago I met him. I was coming back from a trip visiting West Point Military Academy with my friend John. I decided to go and checkout the railroad station in Beacon, NY seeing if there was an historic old train station there. There was not an old station but a new platform that you had to go down under a tunnel to get to. We met an old lady (who was a music major from Vassar College and opera singer) who needed a ride home but before we took her home she wanted us to meet her friend Pete Seeger who was on his sailboat the sloop Clearwater which was docked on the Hudson River on a dock owned by him right next to the train stations parking lot. He said hello to us and at that time unfortunately I did not know who he was so I did not ask him any questions. He died in 2014 at the ripe age of 94. He was still playing and singing a few months before he died.
