Join the queue Richard or manage on the 5 billion dollars you have amassed.

Many others could be out of work too.

Sorry link not showing.

Basically he's asking for 75 billion to bail out Virgin Airlines during the crisis.

The government bailed out Flybe which he owns and also Virgin Trains. Get a grip Richard our coffers are not a bottomless pit. They are there for the needy not the greedy.

"in business, You don’t get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate."

That´s the motto of successful business

he is preserving his billions. If your government goes for it... you pay. wave

Flybe's bail out was a deferment of their tax bill owed to the treasury. It was basically to save interconnecting flights within the UK.

A marked difference between that and a 75 billion bail out to keep his Company from folding due to coronavirus .There would be total chaos within the airline industry if we were to meet his demands.

We need to concentrate on our own struggling people who will lose their livelihood due to this unmitigated disaster.handshake

countries/people have to decide what its best for them, there are no saviors.

Taxes/taxpayers should not be used to save a group or bail out individual companies. Government is not a business as its does have to address social issues.

Absolutely Bogart . It won't wash with the general public and will cause an uproar with other airline companies, but I cannot see it happening to be honest.handshake

I think Branson isasking for a credit facility for 7.5 billion.
A credit facility is a type of loan made in a business or corporate finance context. It allows the borrowing business to take out money over an extended period of time rather than reapplying for a loan each time it needs money.

This of courseat some stage has to be paid back.

The treasury is not a bank Tom .

He needs to put his own business in order ,not expect the taxpayer to subsidise him. he failed with Virgin Rail which we assisted ,also Flybe with a 100 million loan against his owed tax to the treasury. There are many in employment who will suffer due to Coronovirus not just the travel industry.

Just saying.

The government loan is to save thousands of jobs during this crisis, we'll want to have something to come back to when we come out of this crisis, or do you think the human tradgedy caused by these people losing their jobs, jsn't worthy of our attention?

What a ridiculous comment. Branson already has a bailout for Flybe from the tax he already owes the treasury for the past year. It's the tourist industry that is being hit at the moment and frankly holidays are not a necessity of life at this moment in my humble opinion. We didn't bail out Thomas Cook did we?

Once we have a shut down of Schools, Tecs, universities ,offices etc. people will be struggling to cope with daily life through loss of wages which I believe the Government will be taking on the finance for to hopefully cope with this. Our NHS is already struggling with the lack of intensive care units.

It's a nightmare frankly and if you consider Branson's wealth of over 5 billion, then let him put his own hand in his pocket and fork out, not expect the tax payers to help him out. We are not a bottomless pit.

I really think you should inform the government of the right course of action.

I'm sure they would be grateful for your advice.

Thanks for your opinion,

.... and you're supposing, that by attacking the Brits you'll draw attention away from German businesses that will be queued up begging for billions from your own government...
The USA ( yanno, those whose troops have occupied Germany for the 75 years ) will also be bailing their own dead ducks ... Boeing, car companies and banks will be first in line.

Right ... now i see German is the dog ... laughs at self !

Reality - Governments worldwide have thrown themselves into toeing the line of the WHO ( Which is just another US Black ops agency ) The outcome will be that every country on earth ( Bar Russia China and those aligned ) will throw trillions of 'public money' at their corporates and, when the dust settles then the poor dumb ordinary citizens will be left to pick up the bills to refill their respective govt coffers.

My understanding is that Branson is trying to ensure his staff do not end up jobless and on the street, he is not suggesting only Virgin Atlantic is helped, but ALL UK airlines. As far as I can see he has asked for no more than American airlines are asking and WILL going to receive.
It is the UK/USA governments that have created this mess, only right they pay for it.

There was me thinking that Covid 19 was responsible for this mess as you like to call it.

Branson has laid off ALL his employees for 8 weeks without pay while he languishes on Necker an island worth millions which he purchased for £180,000 and protects his 5 billion.

Like many in the British Government I call that shameful.very mad
