Have noticed yesterday that the screen of my mobile phone has loosened from the frame. It's still working, but the clock - she is ticking. Time for a new one.

Have any of you bought a budget mobile recently? Care to share the experience? Expertise is welcome too!

Thanks a lot. No own experience, though?

Googled some, compared this and that and considering Huawei P Smart Pro. But haven't settled yet.

I searched and found a couple of reviews suggesting Xiaomi MI9T is a better phone. Personally i don't know anything about either however you might find the MI9T is cheaper I did, Good luck

The Mi9T comes with 6GB RAM and two storage options, 64GB and 128GB to store all your 4K video and high-res audio. Like Samsung's A70, the Mi9T features a 4,000mAh battery which returns decent performance and takes advantage of 18W fast charging to top back up in no time.

well, what would I need it for? A have a pc at home and at work, During my other work, teaching children, I can't use one, and during cycling from anywhere to anywhere I ain't allowed to use one. When visiting my mom, she's got an Ipad. And when I'm travelling for a couple of days I have an old laptop with a battery that has to be connected all the time, but still I am able to have internet. So only thing I would use it for is to find the way to an adress I've never been before, but of course, I first look on the internet how to drive. If I still can't find the adress, I can ask people.

I feel a new topic coming on...

Tracfone is probably the cheapest if you are not a senior citizen.

Thank you, Karl! And it looks like that I was careless with describing what I exactly want. It's not just "mobile" phone I need, it's "smart" as well. My fault :)

Thank you, Melody! It helps to know that people care :)

I hoped, though, for a personal experience. For many years ago, I's in need of a GPS. At that time I knew nothing about it and reading reviews didn't help - they often remind commercials and have the same purpose: to sell a product. Plus they cater out a lot of technical details that I don't understand. So I asked this fair forum and ta-daaaaa! One of the participants described her experience with her GPS and I bought the same and never regretted, as long as I's using it.

Those electronic devices have approximately the same everything, safe for a few details that are not always mentioned in advertising and only a user can know what to watch out for.

I always was fond of Nokia*, will check it closer this time as well :)

* Thought about it when I's paddling the other day. I saw a seagull dropping an oyster on a rock in order to crack the shell and thought that if it was the old square Nokia (the undestroyable one) the bird would never have a chance. Silly, I know :)

Awww, Tule... Thank you, for your kind words... hug
You know, I have to confess I have no idea of how a GPS works... Have never used it, have never seen one working... My "GPS" is my grocery shopping buddy neighbor, who is 72 and knows how to get everywhere in my town... And if we don't know it, we just ask people... Jajajajajajajajajajaja... Talking about being "primitive"... laugh
And I am totally, with you... I dream of Nokia coming back the way they were years ago... Man, there was NOTHING like a Nokia phone... The quality of the sound, while having a call, the durability... You name it...

GPS is spying on you :D

I found it useful though, when once I've got lost on the sea: unexpectedly the weather changed and everything got covered by a thick fog within minutes. It was like being inside a cloud. I wouldn't find my way back without my phone: it showed my location and I could adjust my course. There is pro and contra in everything :)

I use a LG phone to purchased outright, I also purchased my phone number (purchased on eBay) so if i change carriage then i get to keep the same phone number, the service is fine. I am using the Aldi pre-paid service, which i can make and receive phone call on, it is cheaper that way.

I been going out into desert birding and generally looking about and I use a GPS called Hema HX-1 Navigator.
I use that on my travels, the product talks to me, it displays paid and free camping sites, it knows exactly where i am all the time, the GPS displays the current road speed limit and tells me to slow down if i am going to fast. It works out the shortest, or the fastest route, green route with forest, lakes and wildlife.
Ifyou tell it to avoid freeways and of course toll-ways. is works out a route that avoids those and guides me every inch of the way. Tells me when I'm approaching residential areas and school zones. It comes with an excellent camera to.
For anyone wishing to view information about what that type of system does:

Anyone interested in understanding more about GPS systems here is some comprehensive general information : -
How does GPS work?
The GPS (Global Positioning System) in use today was originally constructed by the US military and became operational around 1995. There are some other systems which are either partially constructed or still in development, but we'll forget about them for the time being.

The GPS system currently has over 20 active satellites in orbits inclined at more than 50 degrees to the equator. The satellites orbit about 20,000km from the earth's surface and make two orbits per day. The orbits are designed so that there are always 6 satellites in view, from most places on the earth.

GPS is a very complex system, but the basic concept is quite simple.

little bit more information
American Global Positioning System (GPS), originally NAVSTAR GPS, is a satellite-based ... The GPS project was started by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1973

GLONASS is the Russian system and GALILEO is the European one. ... GLONASS is probably of a similar level of accuracy to GPS.

While the GLONASS network mostly serves high-latitude regions, China's BeiDou navigation system mainly focuses on providing networks for the low-latitude areas, analysts said. The combination would give birth to the optimal world navigation system. China has launched 46 satellites in the BeiDou constellation.
