Selenite: Just goes to show the many differences between people! The lockdown was so so wonderful with my new guy, like a 2 month honeymoon but then after the lockdown ended things went a bit pear shaped. We both decided may be we would be better off just as friends
Sounds like it will be so much simpler and more workable for you when you're back in the UK! Your patience will pay off
Yes! hopefully. I've enjoyed my 15yrs here even though we bought this apt in 1999 and then I moved here on my own after 30yrs of marriage. I wouldn't change a thing. Things happen in life. I've visited a few places but mostly in the Valencia, Andalusian Regions.
I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you
I think I'm an old stick in the mud. I went to visit my friend in America in 2013 even though I'd been talking to him in a music site for a few years before. Just as friends, my youngest son used to send him music files. I was only there for 2 weeks but we got on very well as we'd been chatting for years. I went back 6 weeks later for Xmas. Met his family and it went on from there. I know we are 1000's of miles apart but luckily we can talk anytime due to the internet lol.....but a 6 hour time difference. I do get fed up sometimes being on my own but once I get back to the Uk, with all my family being there. I'll get things in order. I just can't bring myself to have a relationship with anyone here where I live. It would be "cheating" to me. I'm just old fashioned I think.
I hope you find what you're looking for. Difficult times at the moment but I wish you all the best
secretagent09: Hi Miss C.....not only do they have to go through a lot of red tape the couple also has to spend a lot of money on the wedding to prove to immigration that they really want the marriage and not just a green card. The couple have to develop friends to show that they fit into the environment. The hard part is they have to live together but the foreigner cannot work until after the marriage so the cost of living often drives them apart. This is to avoid making "big American money" that they send back to their country.
In one instance a woman from Brazil "Larissa" married "Colt" from Nevada. All she wanted was for him to spend lots of money on designer clothes and handbags which he did. Colt still lived with his mommy even though he was in his 30's. Mommy and Larissa fought tooth and nail. Larissa caused so many problems that they called the police three times and three times she was in jail. The judge gave her probation and told her one more time and you will be deported. Colt divorced her BUT he is responsible for her cost of living for 10 years.
SA I totally understand what your'e saying. I don't want to marry my friend just so that I can live in America. Ok, I've been there many times and stayed for 80 days at a time but it's not like I'm living there and seeing him every week. I'm getting older and I don't want a green card "I don't even know what that is to be honest" I would just like to stay more than 90 days per year to see if things do work out between us. I'm glad that the US have the rules, anyone can bunk up in the Uk Having said that, anyone can come to Spain to live but there are no benefits here. As an elderly citizen I wouldn't want to work in America. I would be taking my money into America. It's a shame for the people that are genuine but rules are rules. I just wish that this bloody virus would go away. I'm missing my friend and America so much now
mikey4691: .. I could run with that, but I won't...
I won't be doing that again. I got all the dust and hairs in my mouth I do everything in front of my computer. All my windows are open but because it's so hot all the dust sticks to my screen, as for the hairs. I count them to see how many I've lost after I've combed my hair.......

Miss Cell, please don't think that my post about the green card was directed to you. I was explaining what the tv show "90 Day Fiance" is about. I know you like America in particular my home state of New Jersey.
secretagent09: There is a reality tv show called "90 Day Fiance". Even though it is reality tv there are marriages that last and many that were a big mistake.
For instance: Angela 55 years old lives in Alabama. Michael somewhere around age 30 is Nigerian. She has the mouth of a truck driver when she swears at him. She went to Nigeria at least 5 times to make sure he is the right one. Immigration denied him the K-1 Visa. Angela freaked out But they finally got approved and now Michael's aunt is discussing the marriage and what is expected of Angela namely that she has to be submissive to Michael. Well Angela lashed out at Michael saying she is an American woman and they aren't submissive to anyone. Michael thinks she will change. Angela says @#$%^&* I'm not changing. The show is funny at times and other times a real romance develops.
"The show is based on the K-1 visa process, which begins with the petitioner meeting the beneficiary inside or outside the United States, then filing a I-129F petition with evidence of meeting and of a relationship. After the petition is approved, the petitioner must pass biometrics and then the process is sent to the foreign embassy of the beneficiary. The beneficiary then files for a visa, before or after passing the medical requirements and is called for an interview, in which the beneficiary must prove that they meet the requirements of the visa, including having strong evidence of meeting and a valid relationship. If approved, the foreign fiancé travels to the States to live with his or her prospective American spouse. The couple must marry within 90 days, otherwise the beneficiary must leave the country. The couple may face language barriers, culture shock, the stigma of being thought of as a "mail-order bride" as well as skepticism of friends and family. Professor Lenni B. Benson of the New York Law School has stated that although the K-1 visa program is widely associated with sham marriages, "It is not true in the majority of cases."
I love that show! There is also the show " 90 day's fiance the other way around" About people moving out the US to be with their partner in their home country.
Talking about Angela and Michael... I would run very fast if I was Michael, she's rude, bossy and jealous, not to mention the physical aggression. Remember when she trow a cake in his face in the middle of the street...

Thanks for your kindness Miss C. We both went into it with an open mind not knowing how it would work out as he's 17 years younger, but with a positive attitude to making it work unless some Deal breakers popped up which they did. No hard feelings or regrets for either of us and just grateful for what we shared. And we both 'grew' a bit more with things we learned from each other
Wow! It sounds like what you have has been building up for years! It actually sounds wonderful! I totally understand about not being able to see someone else. It's like a betrayal on several levels. It does sound like the quality of your everyday life will be so much more pleasant when you're with your loved ones in the UK. And with the added bonus that travelling will be easier and cheaper. Sounds like a win win for everyone. No doubt your family will be delighted to have you back near them
Here's to your plans to work out to the best and benefit of everyone
