Britons could be urged to throw open the windows in an effort to keep coronavirus at bay as scientists call for a public information campaign to stress the importance of ventilation in reducing its spread.
A paper by the Environmental and Modelling group for the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), dated 30 September, reveals concerns over the role of poor ventilation in the spread of the coronavirus, noting evidence that suggests insufficient airflow could increase the risk of transmission from tiny airborne particles known as aerosols that can carry the virus more than 2 metres.
“Ventilation should be integral to the Covid-19 risk mitigation strategy for all multi-occupant public buildings and workplaces,” the team write.

It's getting cold here now, next thing you know we'll have to sleep on the balcony, everyone has their pet theory, no one knows the answer.
The time has come to put the heating on incredibly high but we must be wary. There are men who would die of fright heating a well-ventilated area. Who left this back door open with the heating on full blast, do you think I'm made of money?
tomcatty: Britons could be urged to throw open the windows in an effort to keep coronavirus at bay...
Any comments welcome.
Keeping windows open is a good idea. They don't need to be wide open, just enough to allow through put of air...i.e. fresh air in, stale air out.
People's tolerance of the cold will greatly improve too, far too many are living in far too warm (and stuffy) homes anyway.
I open all my windows as soon as I get out of bed in the morning, no matter the weather and it's lovely to feel the fresh air coming in...My children (when they were young and living at home) didn't think so though
tomcatty: I get fresh air whether I like it or not when my cleaner comes, she's a good healthy French girl, Who listens carefully to what I say, then ignores it, but you don't upset your cleaner, a good one is rarer than hen's teeth
As for your hornets and cockroaches sounds like a Trump idea
That poor french maid of yours must spend days cleaning your home every week. Five ccovid-free brazillian women knock out cleaning my home top to bottom in one hour once a month.

The people who can endure the cold are more or less the same people who can endure Covid-19. And they're the people who should catch it.
It's the vulnerable who would be better off sitting under a patio heater all winter.

I treat my French maid well
Five Brazilian women, my God you're a hero, no hanky panky for me though shes far too valuable for that
ChesneyChrist: Do you guys really have servants? People coming into your own home to clean up after you? Have thee no shame?
Well, she has three hungry mouths to feed, girls one only six years old, She works hard, but I like to think I'm helping her keep the wolf from the door.

Nice fresh air sweeping in off the Atlantic...lovely.
The problem I have is, by the time that air reaches me on the prevailing westerly winds, it's not so fresh. Maybe I should move to the west coast of Ireland....
