I helped my ex look for one. Hybrid is a better choice especially if you live in a cold climate and plan road trips. Cold temps lower the range. The Tesla seems to keep average range but at nearly $50k it better last long enough to reach "antique status" as far as I'm concerned and the car is so UGLY!------ This thread is Archived ------

I think in the next decade or so the infrastructure for these cars will catch up making them more practical. There are only 13 charging stations in my County. I think the rate varies $.40 per minute. Not sure how long it takes. You can get a rebate for installing one in your home as well from the government around $100.I think there are some concept cars that are charged by solar panels? Weather might be a problem with that.

I had an electric car when I was 10 years old, but it was always difficult getting batteries for it. There weren't really any rechargeable ones back in those days.
