Which does not add to his credibility or patriotism one whit. It does not make him more "American." Being in the armed services is not a character reference. Timothy McVeigh was a veteran. There are veterans among the thugs who participated in the January 6 insurrection.
My husband was a career infantry officer, an airborne ranger who served two tours in III Corps Tactical Zone, He earned a CIB, a Bronze star with V for valor, etc.
Before he died from Agent Orange related illnesses, he expressed utter and complete contempt for Donald J. Trump, for his draft dodging, his ignorance, and his humping of the US flag in lieu of showing it respect.
Serving in the military is a career choice. It may or may not be heroic or admirable. And it is not a qualification to vouch for anything in a video.
