Respect for others goes a long way .Look for the rainbow ,never the storm.
Quote from John Stuart Mills.
“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice; a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice, — is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.”

Can tolerance bring peace in the world?
I suspect that it begins with the fear of god, some big bully or a nuclear bomb a peacemaker actually making people do peace, and then that develops into a habit like being civilised does. We are forced into being peaceful until that becomes second nature at which point the bully can take a more hands off approach.
And I'll have to give capitalism a shout. A big part of peace is the chance to work at jobs that are honest. I don't mean a job that owes you a living at everybody elses expense, I mean a job which improves the common lot. Fox news and the daily mail exist to make us hate and despise one another which provides work for Derek Chauvin. But this right wing gravy train is not the only gravy train, the rest of the state is full of it.
And to continue along the theme of right wing gravy trains - a standing army. If there wasn't an enemy to fight they will invent one a bit like the police and their fake criminals and the courts with their fake defendants. The purpose of the law stops being the welfare of the public and instead becomes about the welfare of these scammers.
On a slightly different note - Laws that are clear and plain and relatively few in number. The authoritarian playbook is to have laws so vast and complicated that it becomes humanly impossible to follow them, but then punish selectively from a range of scapegoats.
It's all a balance. We don't want to side with the joker but we do need to realise why that film came out - which is because we deserve the joker. I'm not saying that all our problems will be solved by projecting a luminous bat symbol into the sky but we do need to realise we are living Gotham city under the worst ruling class the western world has ever known. The Putin within is enormous we don't really work that much different to Russia.
