If I watch the news, inflation has a dozen eggs at 4 and gas at 7. Now they dont say where that is.
So lets cut the sensationalizing and compare where YOU are.
I will start..using the flyer from my local grocery in town. Town is 10k, 50 miles from a major city. This store,Festival, has a few stores and is based in that city. I NEVER shop there. I shop at a smaller more local store in the other town near by. Each town is about 10 miles away.
Ground chuck is $3.99 a pound. Colored peppers are 5 for $5. Fresh salmon fillets 9.99 a pound. Locally grown honeycrisp apples are 1.99 a pound. Hungry man TV dinners, 2/$7. 26 ounce can tomatos, Hunts, 2.29. Kemps gallon chocolate milk is 3.99. Folgers classic roast coffee,30.5 ounces is 7.99. Oscar meyer hot beef hot dogs, 4.49 for a pound. Old Orchard apple juice, 2.29. Crystal Farms chunk cheese 4.99 a pound. Philadelphia cream cheese is 2 for 5.
It is hard to find normal food in this flyer. Lots of coupons but have to buy $5 of stuff to use them. I know Kwik Trip convenience has 5 pounds of potatos for .99.
I will add when I see prices on usual foods like bread. I saw eggs at 1.99 a dozen. Gas is under $4.

wsg23: Thank you Biden for our horrible inflation
He only care about stuffing certain pocets, and I don't mean ordinary peoples.

This inflation comes out of greed as some azzwipes mususing the ukraina excuse to push up
prices. Like as if the whole worlds trade goes through two highways near Kiev,
not exactly.

The letest blow-up of northstream 1 and 2 show how politicians care about ordinary
people on the ground: zero.
No concern about how europeans will get their needs covered
as long as US can sell more LNG and LPG
to replace the Russian gas that now effectively been halted.

I went Vegan beginning of the year. Some produce has inflated, iceberg lettuce $2.99 a head, carrots depends on how much you buy big pack around $3.00, cucumbers $.79 each, celery went up $2.19. Some fruits went way up, watermelon $7.95 for a medium size!, tomatoes up about $.25 (I buy the plum tomatoes). Dry goods haven't gone up that much, rice, legumes ect maybe about $.10 or so. Potatoes, red russet, I like, $4.59 for about 3lbs. Onions about $3.00 bag about 6 medium yellow. I love Hummus and it's about $.99 for small container. Berries, blue, rasberries, strawberries ect. 2 small containers for $5.00. Coffee up about $1.50 max just about everywhere. Creamers Liquid/powder all over $4.50. Even "Dollar Store" goods up $.25.
Publix a major grocery here always has a good selection of "buy one get one free" but prices throughout the store way up. I shop at Dollar General here in FL for dry and canned goods, many of there goods still a $1, good selection.
Pet food went way up, almost $.50 a can and I've seen dry food almost $1.50 more than before. I now buy my cat a raw meat food preparation that is actually cheaper than some of the higher end brands.
Our governor, DeSantis instituted a "tax holiday" on gas (no tax) which brought the price way down. I was paying $5.89 per gal (for mid grade) but it did come down slowly.

And they say the era of cheap money is over because of raising interest rates. But if the base rate is 2.25% and inflation is 10% then cheap money isn't over at all. It's actually cheaper than before. It depends what you buy but on most occasions you are going to be 7.75% better off spending the money that wasn't yours. Cheap money isn't over until it pays to keep your money in the bank, pays in real terms.

And we need to do things like not troll the feminists by making the period dignity officer a man, but simply have anybody who talks like this pressed into a workhouse as we bulldoze the college that used to be an all-night petrol station. We can't afford every third job to be something preposterous.

To me this seems much fairer than either kicking the strikers back to work or the baby boomers out of retirement. And yes I know rail workers are notorious slobs but that's still better than doing something completely made-up.

The Latin communities up here are opening stores here in Brevard. Thrifty Produce, is a major one. Last time I bought meat it was from there and they were cheaper than the other popular chains. I don't know if they have stores in Dade but they are very popular here, always busy. They have a huge selection of fruits and vegetables I've never heard of or seen.

Aldis is another one very popular (German owned, I think). Haven't shopped there yet but everyone says prices are very good there in general.

Chesney go away. You cant read can you. Stop trolling my thread. Go write a blog so we can all ignore it. This is a thread to counter what the media tells us and legitimately compare real world prices. Go rant elsewhere.
I watched a video in Cali..Hobby Lobby. All the Christmas stuff is out already there. Rows and shelves of stuff. Whole aisle of the same item in various colors. And it is all 50% off. It isn't even November! wow Did they overbuy? Get last years stuff docked finally? Even at 50% off prices are way more than I will pay for that decor junk. She showed fake trees. I admit, one gorgeous realistic pine. BUT, sale price of around $480! So retail is like 800?! Are they nuts? Who can afford almost 500 for a fake tree to use once a year. And who is nuts enough to pay it. I can afford it. Would I? H NO!very mad There are more things worth that money that a fake pine tree.
The economy is tanking because stores fill up with more items than people can use nor want. At prices marked up insanely. I have two fake trees I bought back in the 70s and dont bother to put them up. I stick a little one on the table and say good enough.
Melons have been pricing at around 2.50 to 4.50 depending on what they are. I grew up with .25 musks and .50 waters so refuse to pay that for a bag of water.roll eyes

* The Progressos were on sale at Krogers--they're usually about 3 or 4 bucks per can. Celery a little higher than usual, tomatoes were priced fair. Frozen juices are way too high, jmo, but everything is going up!
