I can honestly say that the first pay check was sweet. It brought tears to me eyes, and they owed me a few months in back pay.
It was a nice hefty sum.
So like any American I went and bought a $2000 gun. Zombies and such.
Oh, and sights like another $1000.

Really? You retired from the army and were sleeping in the woods? What - you didn't get promoted from infantrymen over the past twenty+ years? Your profile says you are 60 years old - you must have retired from the army about twenty-years ago. Please provide a bit more information - it seems you have forgotten a few facts.
You don't know much about the U.S. military. Part of my service was National Guard. Thus, I could not draw retirement until the age of 60. I ceased wearing a uniform a long time before that.
Also, Infantry is not rank, is a designated skill. You don't get "promoted" from Infantry. Rank is entirely different.
Besides, that wasn't my skill. I was Armored Cavalry, a completely different designation.
I forgot no facts.
