And why are South Korea such heavy drinkers?
A bit surprising numbers. That eastern europe drink is no surprice it's in the culture, always been.
I must say I somehow doubt these numbers some, 20% alcoholics sounds much.
At what age is that, 18 - 100 maybe.
Scandinavians drink in the weekend. A looot too.

And I agree with Snowy this alcoholism idea is indeed a myth.
The Irish are no more that fond of the drink than any other nation...what is heavily attributed to just love of alcohol is our much higher love of 'the craic' and no not the stuff you sniff up your nose.
