I don't understand why some people seem so defensive, angry, hostile over what a stranger has to say.
The weird part is these same people on the street face to face can look in a person's face and say oh your pulling my leg but here in black and white flat word land there really isn't a way to tell if someone is just having fun.
Like me I come here mostly because I am bored of television bored of play station so I come here for fun but holy cow some are so not light natured at all.
Words mean nothing to the average working hard class person it's all about sight what they are doing with their money if they are renting or buying a house if they have a job etc etc.

If a person is going to be so serious here in person I wouldn't want to know them.canada

I think there's a general tendency to forget that in a forum, at least conceptually, it is a venue to post one's opinion or view. There's no right or wrong answer.

I believe that the problem is that
Some people are here to find a match, they expect that what a person says, and does in here will reflect what that person is all about.

People who are not here looking to hook up, are the more laid back people who can joke around and have fun!

Dont take offense to anyone, they are just here for different reasons and have a right to react as they do! Just have fun, and those that are here to do the same will join the flock!!

I just started this thread so people could say their piece and others can read I already knew there was many here just playing around or just given of them self with no poor intention meant.

I don't personally feel anything other than amused myself.

I still don't believe getting bent is worth it---there is enough stress dealing with people we see every day than to get stressed over people we don't know other than what they tell us here.canada

I don't see anything wrong with serious discussions in the forum. LOL..there needs to be some adult converstaion once in a while.

The only thing I don't like is taking someones core believes and trashing them because you don't happen to believe in them yourself...(ex...religion..etc..) That subject seems to bring out the worst in some people.

It's pretty rare that anyone here gets under my skin but it does happen. I usually tend to look the other way and just remember them for who they represent themselves to be.
Your actions online do reflect who you are offline. If they don't then who's the real you? confused

Nothing wrong with being serious at all it's stimulating---however when they call names make accusations change sentences add their own words changing the content of the message to suit them self that gets a bit nutty lol.
Then when you try explaining to them or clarifying they still believe what they choice to believe.

Religion is the funniest one I think so many non believers talking about something they say they don't believe but they sure have a huge opinion about something not there.

I can't remember ever arguing about nothing!canada

Because this is the one place you can let go, you don't have to keep your emotions in check on here.
Sounds Odd but it is common.

Maybe those that get bent on the forums just use it as a way to vent so that they don't have to be that way in the real world. On here, you can be anyone you want to be.dunno

That makes perfect sense to me.

However on the street I rarely keep my emotions in check I go with them.
I am not the type that bottles up in fear of consequence but here what the hell can I do.

So it doesn't make sense to me--it's like someone shouting at ya on a telephone that they are going to punch you out--ya through the receiver I just hang up and wait to see them face to face than it's sorry man had a bad day my mom was sick. canada

I think the religious ones are pretty amusing too but we must remember that there are at least two sides to every story and with religion and the God issue there are those who claim not to know any absolutes as well - or that absolutes in this matter are pretty absurd as it has been unsucessfully debated by scholars for millenia - and I dont think they were all making reference to 'nothing'.

We can explain or clarify all we like on our given perceptions but there are always opposing views and if a persons views on any particular issue offends you, then you have the ultimate option of remaining true to yourself - there will always be a positive and a negative viewpoint - why stress!!!

Well, for once I totally agree with what you have just said. Makes a change because usually your posts are so long winded that by time I've reached the end of them I've forgotten what the first part of it was about...

But, this post is spot on thumbs up and I often wonder the same thing as to how people can get so offended and wound up by a line of text from someone they don't know from Adam. All I can say is they can't be used to putting up with crap in their lives if they get offended by stuff on here so easily. Or maybe they have a sense of humour failure as soon as they log on here. Or maybe they never had a sense of humour to begin with, who knows dunno

But, yeah it does entertain me on here when there's nothing on TV and I've not got the energy for playing on my Nintendo Wii laugh rolling on the floor laughing

To have a meaningful discussion is an Art ...

unfortunately young man ... you need to learn the difference between Arguing and Debate.

Arguing it is when you .... speak before you think

Debate .... made of " Yes, I see the point in what you say ... but ...". Perhaps you are right ... though my thoughts .........." and so on.

Debate is when you listen to the others point of view ... not just to your own(arguing) The porpous of debate is KNOWLEDGE

Never force of your point of view on anyone .... we all have different opinions which can be shared with respect
