What do you think you could have accomplished in your life if you had said the words "I will...." instead of "I wish..."

What do you think would happen if you changed the possibilities of your life to the probabilities that would occur in your life...

Would you be where you are today still?...would you have accomplished more...?

No I would have accomplished far more...I still could but don't want to spend that many more years in school...2 years 6 years ago was enough...I would love to be a criminal profiler but would have to go to school for waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy to many more years!!!!!!!!!

I could do it if I put my mind to it...I just don't have the patience anymore!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear...an appalling question Ursilla!

Taken outa my hands...but I would so have loved to have been given the opprtunity to realise just half of my true potential.

Arrogance aside, I coulda been a contender!laugh

Is that what the problem is...not realising until too late what our potential is?

Everything I wished I'd done and hadn't due to marrying at 18, I've done since my divorce.

Settled in Spain I accepted a job in Russia despite my age and the various risks involved so I will continue to grab any possibility that comes along.

Life is too short to wish.

I think sometimes life gets in the way then by the time we think about and look at our potential rather than just making ends meet...It's later in life because we made ourselves the last priority....OR sometimes we aren't sure what we want to do with out potential...which was pretty much my case!!!!!!!!

Not that simple.

There's so much talent in the world which goes undeveloped.

I used to be a window cleaner...I could do it alone and suit myself as to when I worked...when I was able to get out and work to be more precise.

Met this chap at a hostel type place...he'd been to jail...lovely bloke. He commented on the talent he'd seen and witnessed while in jail..."but they're all just afraid Phil...they're just scared kids...damaged".

Some need a reasonable platform from which to achieve...stability which should be the right of any child...allowing them to develop.

While here are those who have the fortitude to overcome such hurdles...many don't.

And it just gets lost.

Something called " life " and " circumstances "

If only there were more people with priviliges willing to help another , there would be more fortunate people by virtue of someones realisation of humanity.

applause applause applause This is SO true!! I really do believe that if children get the proper guidance and a sense of self worth and the motivation to believe in themselves.. we wouldn't have half the problems we do. I have a friend who is on Government committees in Ireland for Childcare and is a strong advocate for the welfare of the child and she was telling me that there are some children that she came accross in the course of her work who were amazed when they saw a potato.. they had lived on a diet of chocolate and crisps if they were lucky!!!... how can kids in those circumstances grow up to be the building blocks of society.... before they are ten they have already come to accept that they are 'scumbags' and therefore worthless.... hug

I agree that there are many people who are not given equal chances in life, but I think the question is more about taking opportunities if and when they arise.

Confidence is the key, with it, anybody can go back to university/college if they have missed out, anybody can get out out of a bad relationship and start again. go for that job interview even though you may think you don't stand a chance, if you can afford it, travel.

There are so many things you can do if you have a little faith in yourself and are willing to take a risk.

This is Detentes point!!...its not that simple... I had a client 'mary' really sweet girl 18 who was just starting to turn her life around by doing a vocational course (v proud!!) and in a case which involved Garda (police) bullying she chickened out.. her words were.. "whats the point in the telling the thruth, there is no point.. nobody will believe ME" these kids grow up feeling on the margins.. almost like they don't belong to society" we need to teach them otherwise.. they are not going to magically figure it out themselves... wave cheers

Well, speaking of this ? at this very moment, 4 hands ago in the poker tourny i'm playing right now had I said I will call instead of Damn it I wish I woulda called I would have more than doubled my chip stack. Probabilities? Well the odds didn't justify a call with 10 7 off suit. Today? I'm stil lin the tournament and still in it to make the cash line.

Acomplished more? Well any cash is a profit so if I make it that far then I accomplished more $!

I understood what detente said and what you are saying and you're both right it isn't that simple for some people and for many reasons.

I was looking at the question from a different perspective....if the opportunities arise do you take a risk and say to hell with it yes I will or do you ponder and decide against it only perhaps to regret your decision later in life.

Maybe wikked can enlighten us as to what her question was actually referring to.

I totally agree... I wish to god that the powers that be, the legislatures and the governments would see this.. I feel soooo frustrated and helpless and it truly breaks my heart to see any child not get their god given rights!!! As soon as I have more money and more time I am GOING to set up 'after skool clubs' to give children accesss to their potential!!!

Thanks Eupho....

And not to be antagonistic to anyone, but don't the "my hard life, poor me...no avenue to be better, my age...etc etc" fall into the same category of "I wish"?dunno
