Oh definately, I learned how to cook when I was about 14 or 15. I would do the side dishes for my mom while she did the main course. I have been cooking full meals since I was 16 when I moved out on my own with my ex. Though it wasnt always perfect, and we did end up trashing it a time or two and heading to McDonalds! But yes, I think a woman should be able to cook, but I also think a man should be able to cook. I think everyone should know how to cook, and whoever is at home around dinner time should be the one to get started cooking. I dont think it should be assigned as a man's or woman's role.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, but in a case where the woman can't cook, or learn how to nor even wash vegetables talking of addiing salt to water, how do u judge that?

Well, honestly, my little sister cant even boil eggs without asking for help!! So I dont think its a horrible thing to not be able to cook. Some can, some cant, just like doing anything else in life. I suppose if I was you and got into a relationship where your g/f couldnt cook, or didnt want to, then maybe trying to get in there and help her, and teach her a few things would be helpful. In my little sisters case, she hates cooking by herself because it scares her, but having someone there with her to help her and remind her of what all needs to go in when, she will do it.
Someone who wont cook... I dont know, I have never met anyone like that before!! I guess if it is something they hate to do, then maybe yo could offer to cook on certain days, and let her cook on other days. But also keep in mind to be nice about the way you approach the subject! A lot of women I know wont cook for their new boyfriends because they are scared the new guy wont like the food. So when she does attempt it, make sure to smother the meal in compliments, even if its the worst thing you have ever tasted! Maybe give a suggestion or two as to what she could have done a bit differently, but in a nice way, be very careful when it comes to judging a woman over her cooking, its a very sensitive subject for some!!
dcj22: OMFG - what does cooking have to do with a relationship
not much, me thinks.. but you know.... we all give importance to different things I suppose. Wouldn't the world be a B O R I N G place if we were all alike?

Nothing if you ask me, I would date someone who couldn't boil water right!! Just cause you cant cook doesnt mean you have not got many other qualities to bring to the relationship!!
The ability to cook/ or lack there of, is no where on my list of personal qualities I look for in a relationship!!

kitty01: My dad did all the cooking, he would not allow my mom to cook anything for him. I was told the day after they were married he asked for his eggs soft and when he got them they were so hard they could bounce, and to prove it he threw them. From that time on she was not allowed to cook.
When I met my ex husband he was a chef.. he thought he was then bees knees at cooking and always corrected anything I made.. a lot of the time he would cook dinner because his was 'better'
When we spilt up.. that Christmas was the first time I had ever cooked Christmas dinner.
