Yesterday I went to my first ever Maltese wedding.

It was the sixth wedding I've been to; I've now been to three weddings that weren't my own! blushing

It was WONDERFUL!

I had tears in my eyes as the couple exchanged their vows and stuff...... NEXT time I'm going to get married in church (for the first time; you see - I'm a virgin when it comes to getting married in church myself!).

Oh well, the couple had obviously saved long and hard for the special day; the groom had taken a whole month off work - two weeks before the wedding and two weeks after. The day after the wedding they were moving into their new home (I guess that's today) and spending a week sorting out the finer points (like in which room to hide the wedding gift the person who invited me as their guest and myself bought them - no, it wasn't a huge phallic table lamp oozing with volcanic bubbly bits! tongue

The recpetion was in the Malta Hilton - and was really excellent...... mega yum yum food and wine and wonderful company.

I naturally negotiated a good rate to stay there overnight - strongly hinting that I might have my own wedding reception there also.....yeah, like in the year 2525 - if 'rusty_knight' is still alive!

Anyway, it was absolutely superb and it made me think that love is a really wonderful thing and seeing them making such a positive start made me wish them well from the bottom of my heart.

thumbs up grin sigh

Oh Rusty I cry at weddings too, but every wedding is beautiful in reality.

It's just such a shame that the beautiful dream so often turns into a nightmare.

Yes. I have solved my dilemma of what to give for wedding gifts. Now I just put some bucks into a nice weddingy envelope with a little note,to be opened only after the honeymoon ....."For the divorce".

Marti, you're confusing me...

Style, food, booze... is that all the wedding about?

It was the happiness shining in newlyweds' eyes and the way they looked one at another that makes you shiver.

And the the jazzy dance, the floor only for them. Bet, they did not care if anyone was there at all.

The spirit of the wedding is universal, be it in the chirch, underwater or in front of a fire.

just wanted to agree with dragon! There's gotta be hope for love.
My parents for example: separated for 14 years. They got back together, and now they're more in love than ever. There are ups and downs- but I think the trick is to somehow keep the romance fires lit.
