kissmedeeply: ALEX You and me do not agree...I get that..

They can smoke if they wish..

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN...I DONT LIKE IT..MY OPINION...CHILDREN ARE THE INNOCENT ONES HERE AND HAVE NO SAY...

but something must be wrong with it..becos its getting banned everywhere...

yes, it is banned from public closed places

and that can be part of the rules on how smokers and no smokers can share the same world

you were saying we as non smokers hvae the right to live in asmoke free world

when i dont want to be around smokers i am not
i have some friends that they smoke, and it is my choise to be around them or not

with alcohol is complete diferent

i do not drink, but i have to share the road witl drunk drivers

i can use the same principle you use
as a non drinker i could ask to live in an non alcoholic world

goverments will never ban smoke (there is too much money in taxes there) the same way they wil not ban alcohol (same rezon)

having laws for as to have boundaries where our right end and start some one elses right is what the govement is doing
asking for a world free of ... it taking some one else freedom

it seems it bothers you i have my own opinion and i do not agree with you

but i give my view point and the rezons i say whatever i say, not just i quote you to say that i disagree

KHD100: I would not expect people to run their lives around another person's allergies or health issues, but to walk up to someone with asthma and for fun, do things like blow the smoke in their face or do things that will set off reactions is not right.

If smoking is not allowed in a building, would it not be nicer for both sides of the issue, for a smoking area of 2 be set up? Preferably not at an entrance ALL parties concerned, enter the building... example the main entrance would be smoke free?

At work there is a scent free washroom. It means no perfume or hair spray... etc. Some have complained about it being set up this way, but it's one washroom out of 5... you'd be suprised how great a relief it is for the ones that need to avoid if possible things that will set off asthma attacks etc.

On the bus this young lady sprayed her perfume on her self and her friends. A mother with a child around 4 yrs old ask her to stop. The young lady did not like this, and sprayed the perfume in the direction of the mother and child, and thought it was funny.

The child went into a full blown asthma attack. Bus driver stopped the bus, and helped the mother, and got help to come take the child and mother to the ER.

If a person wants to smoke, and goes to a place they can smoke, non smokers should avoid that place. If the non smoker goes where the smokers are, and complains... that is not right.

Common sense, if anyone has it, should know, if a person is allergic to smoke, don't smoke where it's going to agitate, and vise a versa, if allergic, don't go where you know the smokers are.

I agree..but when you have to go somewhere and cant avoid them..like walking up town on the sidewalk and there they are lighting up a smoke...and even breaking the law..becos they are not supposed to be right there in the working place smoking..

like walking the street and a car runs a red light
like going to the grocery and sling because of the wet floor

then our only choise is to stay at home

what when you are at work and a plane hit the building
what when you ride a train and it goes out of the rails

then our only choise is to stay at home

and what if a car hit our home
well

why dont we build a bunker, with allsuplies for the rest of our life and avoid living in the real world

i will respect the smokers for their choise and let them smoke as much as they want

i will ask the smokers not to smoke in some areas, so i can be there withut the second hand smoke

respecting each other is the key word

kitty01: I am not against the smokers either, just the smokes.

When I was working in a hospital they had a non smoking room and a smoking room, most of the people I know went to the smoking room so I did too. I got asked to leave since they said I was taking room for the smokers and since I did not smoke I did not belong there.

A friend of mine was ill with cancer.... I found it odd that there was a smoking room for cancer patients. Even more so since most of the patients at this place were dealing with lung cancer. Cancer patients hooked up to their IV's, in various stages of cancer... I could not get over this.

My aunt refused to stop smoking, not matter how many parts of her removed due to cancer. She passed away 2 yrs ago, last month and was only 5 yrs older than me.

You can nag and lecture a smoker (or other person's with addictions), but it's a waste of time and energy. If you were nagged about anything, did you automatically fix the problem, or just roll your eyes and keep doing what ever it was?

My oldest son smokes, he knows how I feel about it. Once a month I say, "nag nag", and he say's I know, you love me, and goes out side for his smoke.

If he will ever stop smoking, it will have to be when it's right for him. Only know this, because I am an ex smoker.

I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, these can not be controlled, and people don't respect others very much anymore. They flick the still lit butt it hits your clothing, and it damages your coat or pants. They don't care.

Do you ever feel there is no place you can walk, in public, and not be invaded by it?

Allergies are on an up swing, so is the rate of asthma in children. This is also in non smoking, and homes where a family is living as green as possible.

It would be nice if smokers would stay home and pollute themselves instead of everyone else. Why should you be made to stay home, and not allowed freedom.

Some of us ex smokers have discussed how our behavior was selfish. When I stop and think about it, am not happy with the type of person I was to wards non smokers.
