Spaghetti: Iraq is off limits. At least until all the super patriots go, the ones who thought invading was such a swell idea. If only ten percent of them had enlisted we woulda been out of there years ago.

Somewhere tropical would work better for me.

Mayaguana ? Inagua ?
Cay Lobos and Kandahar are some excellent Choices!
Both of them are HOT!laugh

It would probably be a good idea to chip in and let me have a looksee before I decide. I may prefer snow skiing instead. Hey, Alaska has a job opening and I'm already a hillbilly which is a first cousin to snowbillys!

thumbs up

Three months before she was thrust into the national political spotlight, Gov. Sarah Palin was asked to handle a much smaller task: addressing the graduating class of commission students at her one-time church, Wasilla Assembly of God.

Her speech in June provides as much insight into her policy leanings as anything uncovered since she was asked to be John McCain's running mate.

Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

If anyone wants the link to hear her complete speech, please email me and I'll send you the link. I don't think we are allowed to post links here.

One of the best testament to the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I heard was done a black Army NCO at the mechanized infantry school in front of 700 solider under going training there. He said you can be both a soldier and Christian. That they are not mutually exclusive to each other.

Many leader of both Dem and Rep have extolled people to make prayer for our military service people.

Our military service men and women take an oath that ends with the words....."So help me God"

So?

You see something inapproriate to having a leader in a spritual venue, asking for a prayer to support military troops that are in harms ways?

'Splain this one to me Tom. I does not look like she has been "deadly against Stevens" in the recent past or the past past.

UPDATE: 'The Sarah and Ted show'

Posted by Alaska_Politics

From Kyle Hopkins in Anchorage --

Just got back from the Stevens & Palin press conference, and then another by Begich.

I need to get cracking on the newspaper story, but here’s a quick sample of what Stevens and Palin had to say about their joint appearance:

(If there’s time, I’ll try and post video tonight.)

I asked: Governor, your appearance was kind of a surprise today. Can you talk about how that came about and whether or not we should see this as kind of an endorsement of Sen. Stevens for re-election?

PALIN: Well it’s, I’m on the clock and we’re in a federal building. So we won’t talk about campaigns or endorsements. All that comes later.

But I support the Senator’s proposals here and his passion to again allow Alaska to be heard and to lead with an American energy policy that has been, I believe has been sorely lacking. And it is time to step up, work together. Others are looking to us to see how we are going to work together through this energy crisis, and from here forward.

So I’m honored to get to be here…

STEVENS: No announcements will be made here …

… What we’ve been describing is a process that’s going to take place over the years. And I hope to work with her over the years. That’s as far as I can go right now....

But as far as getting along. … Hell, I don’t know if you know it but when Frank Murkwoski was first elected, this lady and I and the mayor of Cordova, Margie Johnson, traveled around the state for two weeks.

We’ve known each other for a long time and worked together for a long time. I’ve never known of any animosity between us at all.

We’re each free to make comments about what the other does. And every once in a while, she’ll say I’m stupid, and that’s probably – she may be right. (laughter)

PALIN: I have great respect for the Senator and he needs to be heard across America. His voice, his experience, his passion needs to be heard across America so that Alaska can contribute more. So that we can be producers. So that we can help lead the rest of the U.S.

I again have great respect for him. And I agree there’s a big difference between reality and perception regarding our relationship....

Oh no Tom I would never attack a unwed pregnant teenager, I never wanted to drag that into the mix. It has nothing to do with Sarah as a candidate JMO however the other issues do.

Sky, I know. But what is happening right now....in the net, in the media, in the coffee shops...etc.etc.etc

Those other issues are being brought up and people are comparing how Sarah is handling this family situation....to what they consider
'right' thing to do. Or do what they did in the past. Or to what they are facing today.

They are comparing her family values and her Christian values to the family situation that she and her daughter face.

But you would attack Sarah Palin on these position, yes? Yes you would. That you and many others feel is fair political game. Right now for the Palin family they are intermixed.

I know you were jsut posting Sarah Palin's positions. How do you separate positions from values? Pretty tough, yes?

By the way, Bristol's to be husband...is attending the convention tonight. One thing you got to admire here, Sky. They did not hide this or try do a cover up. I had a roomie in college get a girl into trouble.....she left school and he went on a long summer vacation out of country. That all could have been done here. And the US public would not have this in the debate. McCain and camp are playing it really straight, Sky.

Tom those other issues are importent to know about when choosing a candidate for the 2nd highest office in the land and the one to step in if anything happens to the president. You also pointed out she would have great influence on her own (which usually is true).

That is why the vetting process is done and if it isn't done properly lor carefully ots of stuff can come out to embaress the candidate and the one who choose the candidate.

It's not just the Dem's fault that this is happening, John had a lot to do with this, I think he likely made an impulsive decision and didn't properly vette Sarah.
