New Orleans is nearly empty and it looks as if it is going to flood again. Do we spend 20 Billion dollars to try to rebuild it again or do we just say... "Welcome To Lake New Orleans"?

sigh I was watching CNN last night, and most of the segments was about the Hurricane...it's just so sad...like mbcasey posted..."so much tradition, history, culture and value." And that's not counting the people. It's hard to imagine New Orleans -NOT- being there...sigh

I'm proud to be American, but I have to say the last time the response was so slow that I was ashamed of the way it was handled, we help other countries even when they don't want it, we spend trillions on war and rebuilding and we left New Orleans out to dry, I say be ready this time to help with a speedy response. I mean we are suppose to be the great U.S of A..

If you've never been to Quebec and had the french fries from a little roadside stand you don't know what good french fries taste like. What you get at McDonalds is a joke, half of which usually wind up in the garbage.

As to New Orleans, I think having a city built in the oxbow of the biggest river in America that's below sea level was a very flawed idea. The lower ninth ward is probably going to wind up a lake after Gustav gets done with it.

For a country which has so little history it would be a shame to lose one of the most historical areas in the country.... I say get building.

If this had been dealt with when the original request for funding to repair the levies had been submitted... this wouldn´t even be an issue.

If the levees break again, we should declare it a lost cause and the federal government should refuse to allocate funds towards reconstruction in the low lying area.

BUT...They can take the same funds and distribute them to the people of New Orleans for other causes.
