It's already gone up nearly a buck a gallon around Knoxville and the lines are long - Some places are already out of gas! - no end in sight. Wish the damn hurricane would hit and get it over with already!

shock I just went to get gas and had to wait almost an hour! And yep, sure enough, the price has skyrocketed, although we didn't have a cut off on the amount.
The local police was stationed at all convenience stores due to FIGHTS OVER THE GAS PUMPS!! There have been a few minor vehicle accidents at the pumps where evidently someone was trying to cut another off...doh Unbelievable
..sigh

Must only be affecting you in the south right now, the areas that are getting hit...but, it will spread here. I'd love to stop the rising price of gas...however, won't happen until we have a different fuel source. I'd like to see solar-, wind- and alternative fuel-powered cars get more mainstream.

Good luck, but don't be disappointed if you don't get any action because if The president can't do anything about gas prices I doubt a governor can.
You call it price gouging, others might call it supply & demand.

Anyway, here's some reading material to keep you occupied while waiting on that gas line.

HOUSTON (Dow Jones)--Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) has completed the shutdown of its Houston, Texas City and Port Arthur refineries as Hurricane Ike approached the coastline, the company said Friday evening. There is no word on when the company will be able to send crews in to assess damage after the storm passes, said spokesman Bill Day. Ike is expected to make landfall late Friday or early Saturday causing a significant storm surge, which could flood several refineries along the Texas coast. There were already reports of flooding in the Galveston area. -By Susan Daker, Dow Jones Newswires; (713) 547-9208; susan.daker@dowjones.com

MMmmmm...don't know...but he has released several statements about the possible 'price gouging' issues across the state...dunno
The local news channels have been trying to reach him for more info. but so far, that's about all he's released. No resolutions though...sad flower

My friend lives in NJ and he only paid $3.21 a gal today, and he isn't allowed to pump his own gas because there is a law against it in that state..... I am moving there especially in winter! lol

When I resided in Lansing and while Jennifer Granholm was still Attorney General of Michigan she wrote to all the owners of gas stations that if they didn't lower their fuel prices that she would fine them.
