Well this is it...everyone is focusing so much on slinging mud in the other direction...they probably know the reasons they are voting for each candidate...other than the fact they are staunch Democrats and Republicans....I have yet so see the platforms of either candidate discussed...

An overview of John McCain's platform on the economy, healthcare, national security, educational, Iraq, climate change, veterans, immigration, sanctity of life, second amendment, judicial change and ethics reform.
This is very very brief...But hopefully has enough of the main points in it.....
Economy:
""Anthony Masterson and Digital Vision for Getty Images John McCain understands that hard-working families need lower taxes and is taking a pro-growth, pro-jobs approach to the economy. McCain plans to permanently repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) — a tax that is paid almost exclusively by 25 million American families. Repealing this tax would save average American families nearly $60 billion in its first year. Under McCain’s plan, a formerly AMT-taxed middle class family with children would save an annual average of more than $2,700 — which translates to a real tax cut for working families. He also wants to work with FHA to ease the housing crisis.
Iraq
Regardless of how the US became involved in the Iraq war, McCain believes that US withdrawal cannot occur until Iraq is sufficiently self-governing and capable of safeguarding its people. To do this, he believes it is necessary for the US to aid the counter-insurgency against al Queda, help establish economic stability in the country, call for international pressure on Syria and Iran to end its violence against the Iraqi people and provide open and provide honest accounting of progress and setbacks to the American people.
Energy & Climate Change
John McCain believes a market-based system will curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, mobilize innovative technologies, and strengthen the US economy. He believes a climate policy should:
* Be built on scientifically-sound, mandatory emission reduction targets and timetables * Utilize a market-based cap and trade system * Include mechanisms to minimize costs and work effectively with other markets * Spur the development and deployment of advanced technology * Encourage and assist international efforts to solve the problem
McCain's energy policies include realistic short-term and long-term targets and timetables.
Immigration
McCain's immigration plan calls for insightful and innovative methods to create lasting reforms. His plan calls for:
* Building social and economic alliances with Mexico and Latin America * Reeling in government spending and implementing pro-growth immigration policies that give US * companies the leeway to hire competent workers and pay decent wages * Promoting a flexible labor market for skilled Americans and immigrants that keeps US companies in business * Assimilating immigrants by teaching them English and US culture * Tightened border security and concentrated cargo screening at US ports of entry
Second Amendment
"Imagezoo at Images.com for Getty Images"Gun Rights John McCain believes that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that needs protection. McCain believes in protecting gun manufacturers from liability and opposes bans on so-called "assault weapons," ammunition and other firearms. He supports mandatory gun locks, criminal background checks, instant background checks at gun shows and stiff penalties for criminals who commit crimes with a firearm.
McCain's policy attacks the fundamental problem, which is rapidly rising costs for health care. He has specific and innovative ideas for bringing these costs under control, while also saving Medicare and Medicaid, protecting private health benefits for retirees, establishing affordable health insurance for middle-class families and making health insurance accessible to every American. He believes in putting families in charge of their health care dollars and giving them more say in their coverage and treatment would reform the system, while also raising quality of care.
National Security
Unrivaled in experience, there will be no learning curve for McCain. From day one, he will be ready to lead the US armed forces as commander-in-chief. McCain believes in adapting the nation's defenses to meet the ever-changing global demands. McCain understands that protecting the nation's citizens means spending defense funding more wisely and taking a fresh approach to combatting extremism and terrorism, establishing effective missle defense, increasing the size of the military, modernizing the armed services and equipping military personnel with necessary gear and supplies.
Education
McCain plans to eliminate President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act and the common standard it sets. He supports home-schooling and believes school vouchers create competition and forces districts and administrations to change failing policies and practices. He also plans to implement reforms that support teachers and shifts accountability for failure to poor administrative policies and practices. Under McCain's system, schools will compete for the best character-building teachers and administrators.
Olsojente: I'll look it up myself.. But i was kind of wondering, why people who are voting Mc Cain choses to do just that...same with Obama, but I can't be bothered to bring that thread back up...
And one more reason to turn my nose up at Hussein obama is in this video:
shipoker58: If I had been a McCain supporter before this week, I wouldn't be after his comment about out financial situation here in America!!
He said that any of the CEOs of the failing companies being bailed out, should not leave their positions with large bonuses and buy outs. "He said that CEOs should leave with more money that the highest government salary".In essence, since he is planning on being president, no one should receive more money than HIM!!!
That is just one more slap in the face to the taxpayer. If a CEO leaves, after this "bail out", he should receive nothing more than what the average taxpayer receives when they leave a job, which is NOTHING. Afterall, the taxpayer is now his or her employer.
The arrogance of no one receive more than me is a further insult and supports the grandiose thinking of those currently in power.
ttom500: John McCain just saved you $2800 dollar today, Ship
That is the what the average American will pay with a $700b economic redo package.
By switching the economic redo to a loan program...the firms that take are obligated to pay it back.
But the DEMs and Obama were all for the Gov't give away of $700b to firms that had failed, were with out transparency by the SEC, and if Obama is elected seem only to willing to do it again. That right the John McCain that made a fuss in the meeting and said it was not right, that it needed investigation, and tonight are making a counter proposal to making it a loan package.
So Ship.....how you going to spend your $2800 dollar next year? New car? Maybe some new furniture for the house? A cruise?
Hugz_n_Kissez: Well this is it...everyone is focusing so much on slinging mud in the other direction...they probably know the reasons they are voting for each candidate...other than the fact they are staunch Democrats and Republicans....I have yet so see the platforms of either candidate discussed...

Upside, if our economy goes down.....yours will be in the crapper too. People won't be buying those Danish pastries....
Well then is is just these 2 you can vote for...I mean how do you actually guage who will be the best president for the country then?????
I would have to vote for an alternative if that were the case...I couldn't in all good conscience vote for someone I thought would be no good for the country....
ttom500: I like the idea of a commander in chief.....1/2 of the job of being President......that has some expereince with the military. Knowing say the difference between a F-22 and F-16....seems like a little detail.
But in the real world of military oper. it is a big difference. The F-22 is stealth.
I like a President that understands the potential cost of a military operation. McCain does....his 5 1/2 years in a POW camp says that.
I like that the idea that McCain has already develop relationship with countries and leaders that are being pressured by Russia. Shows he has forsight to where the next bullet is like to fly.
I like that the idea that McCain has been in the Senate for 22 years. Has worked across the aisle gaining consensus to major issues.
I like the idea that McCain has served his country with honor and intregrity.
Now can I post on the Obama thread.......?????
YEP! His participation as a what???????? in another Stupied war .....a real terrible pilot who dstroyed five panes and killed other americans because of his lack of care and was saved because his dadda was a big shut in the Us army!
Did he won that stpied war of Vietnam? Was he a general or some thing? He was shut down he suffered some years in prison and thats it! TY McCain ......... but still people should be afraid of all the sufferings he has experienced and a certain PTSD he never ever was treaded for because they did not know what it was back then... this man shows clear signs of being sick in his poor mind..... Send McCain to a nice quiet eledry home and give him the best psychologichal treatment possible ..... all veterans deserve first class treatment for sure but hey....... if you are fu***d up in head..... dont run for the worlds most complicated jo please.... please ....... the rest of us really Want to Live
