RillyNiceGuy: The two should be one.....equal and working together for the good of the one.....the family.
I think that to 'be equal', can still mean that each does the things they are best out, and in doing so, they complement each other. There are some gender differences in how we do certain things. But balance is what is needed. The 'whole' is then bigger than the two separates.
Having said all this, I have to acknowledge that I don't think men and women have really changed much over the centuries, though the new roles may due to our fast paced, modern way of life, may often mask this. JMO.

I have mixed feelings on this, First I feel that it should be a partnership, and each should talk everything over and agreed on. 2nd I also feel that either one or the other may have a better head or talent for somethings then there partner, and that should be reconized as well, but they still should include and talk it over with the other. One may have a better head for finances and the other may have a better head for other things. Both should have a say and both need to be included. And I guess the bottom line is they should be in agreement. and total suport of each other.

:hmmmm: not very comfortable with the word submissive... I think marriages as partnerships should be about mutual giving... and that comes surprisingly easy when you love someone, so cooking for and looking after home and family would not bother me... however, relationships are about give and take and one partner taking the other for granted, taking and not giving back is something which would eventually lead to discontent...

I have had years of being head of my household, having raised my son for over 20 years.
The way I am feeling at this moment, feeling so exhausted, physically and emotionally, from my trip away, that if the right man (yeah I know, what does that mean?!) were to come along, I would quite happily have him decide even what colour lipstick he wanted me to wear!!!

Depends who's has more leadership qualities....I personally prefer teamwork..allows sharing the blame for wrong decisions easier....
