I forgot,
chief buyer engineering company,
old people's home , carer,
Bank, encoding cheques.[/quote
Ah yes, you just reminded me - I forgot some too!!!

Add to my list ......
Hairdresser.... only family, friends and kids school friends, not professional.
Dressmaker/Tailor (professional) How could I forget that? I did it for many years, still do here in CH!

My latest is this ... I go in where others fear to tread, and re-organise peoples homes, get them clean, get the energy flowing.........

I get bored very easily - could never do the same job relentlessly repeatedly! I like to see positive results - and word of mouth recommendations is good for my ego and morale.

All the experiences have stood me good in my life.

smoky: How did you get to be a teacher? ,..... from being a Chef? What subjects and things do you teach Sommer?

I trained at tourism school, to be a chef. I wanted to piss my father off... He wanted me to do law, I could not bear the thought.

I did my teaching degree when my daughter was a baby, hubby worked away, I was at home in the evenings, I did OU and it took me three years... I teach English as a second language...Also, I teach social studies.

I went into teaching because whilst my children were little, child care was too expensive for us, so I knew that I could have the holidays, that was my reasoning around it..

It has only been over the last ten years that I have done it in schools, because I had been busy building my company in the UK... I sort of fell into that, because a guy on my local town council asked me to do a speech on family law at an event and I got headhunted from that. I knew they thought I was smarter than I was and I spent the first six months being terrified, but then I got more contracts, took on a friend and that was it, I found myself with a company...

Yes ... incredible isn`t it? My Dad bought me an old Treadle machine when I was 11 ... and I been sewing everything since then ....... 50 years!

And one customer is all one needs ...... word soon spreads ... and they just keep right on wanting more and more things sewn!... But now with the masses of cheap new clothing on the market (from China?) - I find doing alterations/repairs quicker and more lucrative! .. and inbetween I make some designer stuff bespoke.

What an Entrepreneurial Spirit you have Sommer! And you very sensible too! Funny that you say "they thought I was smarter than I was" ......... I think a lot of very capable people feel that way in the beginning ... and it just shows ..... You ARE smarter than you think!

I made and sold my first item aged 9, then learned to use a machine in a factory aged 12, then never had a mement to myself. Very similar to you. I later found niche markets and made it into bigger businesses.

Nowadays I have arthritis and cant sit as a machine any more. still do halloween costumes for family and their friends but not like I used to.

Is your company in the UK to do with Family Law?

No, it is nothing to do with Family Law. Although because I wrote to my MP about the state it was in, I was given this slot.

I have been blessed with the gift of the gab and a smashing set of teeth, which are whiter than white and I dazzle with my smile, I flash that and people for some reason just melt.

My company, deals with UK agencies, such as that one for errant parents who do not pay their child maintenance on time, it is being closed down and we deal with the new one being opened which takes a lot of time.

The recent company that lost the contract for marking school tests, I found myself landed with that and the closedown...

That is what it does... I troubleshoot, I sign off the money and I have consultants who work for the company. On a self employed basis...

They do the work, invoice me and I pay them.

In my spare time, I teach a few kids....

I have a talent - for rubbing up people the wrong way!

My brother died a year ago today (12th October 2007), my youngest nephew two years ago on 31st October 2006 (aged just 21) and my dad two months ago (14th August) aged 89.......... I sent a letter of sympathy to his widow and my remaining neice and nephew - I hope it isn't badly received.

dunno
