shipoker58: so are you saying that because I know farakan...I am a bad person. And that if Farakan happened to say something good about me....that means that I agree with his beliefs. And that I suppoort his ideals?

Farakan said that without any provacation or request for an endorcement from OBama. Unless, of course you have knowledge that OBama actively sought out the endorcement and praise of Farakan. If you know this to be true...I'll withdraw my objection to you McCain supporters using it to smear OBama

I will try to answer both Ship and Desmond here....because I think you are both going to the same place. If wrong let me now.

Desmond.....by fyi.....I know places in Florida.....with a lot more bias than St. Cloud.

What I am saying is this regarding Farracon. Or for that matter any extreme polarizing figure....a David Duke or Wallace....they are going to politically endorse accoring to thier political leaning.

They are not going to politically support someone that is not of their political leaning. Think that Wallace......would give Obama a endorsement? Or Duke would? We all know the answers there.
Nor would I expect Farracon to endorse McCain.

So when Farracon endorses Obama.....what does that tell me about Obama political leanings? Many right now are trying to paint Sen. Obama as middle of the road as apple pie and ice cream. Here comes a Louis Farracon endorsement that says some else.

You can look at a political endorsement from two prespectives. One on who it is given. The other on who it comes from.

Obama has rejected the endorsement. That should say alot about Farracon. Also alot about Obama. But still if given a choice...Farracon would prefer Obama in the White House than McCain. It is because of
Obama political leanings, his attendance on the million man march, he comes from Chi town.

shipoker58: I wonder why no one talks about McCains relationship with convicted felons, like G. Gordon Liddy

I have not heard G.Gordon Liddy endorsing McCain.....but hey strange bed fellows are made in politics.

I still think that the RESKO/Obama realtionship has more than smoke to it. It is a little fresher ...seeing that one is in prison.....and seems
to chirping like a jay bird at this time.

Interesting to hear what will come. Of course the DEMs might begin to
claim the RESKO was waterboarded........

Hugz_n_Kissez: # I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.

This statement is a rewording (two separate sentences have been conflated into one, further changing an intended meaning already obscured by the lack of context) of material from page 220 of Dreams from My Father. The material appears as part of a passage in which Barack Obama describes his profound disappointment in learning (from information provided by his half-sister, Auma) that the lofty image he had held all his life of his role model, his biological father (a man he barely knew, because Barack's father had left him and his mother when Barack was just two years old, and Barack had only seen his father once since then), was a flawed, idealized one.

Yes, I'd seen weakness in other men — Gramps and his disappointments, Lolo [my adoptive father] and his compromise. But these men had become object lessons for me, men I might love but never emulate, white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela. And if later I saw that the black men I knew fell short of such lofty standards; if I had learned to respect these men for the struggles they went through, recognizing them as my own — my father's voice had nevertheless remained untainted, inspiring, rebuking, granting or withholding approval. You do not work hard enough, Barry. You must help in your people's struggle. Wake up, black man!

Now, as I sat in the glow of a single light bulb, rocking slightly on a hard-backed chair, that image had suddenly vanished. Replaced by ... what? A bitter drunk? An abusive husband? A defeated, lonely bureaucrat? To think that all my life I had been wrestling with nothing more than a ghost!

# I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

This statement is a rewording of a passage from page 261 of The Audacity of Hope, in which Barack Obama spoke of the importance of not allowing inflamed public opinion to result in innocent members of immigrant groups being stripped of their rights, denied their due as American citizens, or placed into confinement, as was done with Japanese-Americans during World War II. The original contains no specific mention of "Muslims":

In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

Nooooooooooo SF, I have already explained my purpose for this post, wayyyyyy back in the pages. The end comment was added to see where everyone else would go with it, for my own amusement.
Of course they took the bait and ran with it. Hugz debunked it with lots of info and I commended her for it. The thread is about McCain, not Obama, but look where it went!laugh

The people here are a colorful piece of work in progress.
I had an enjoyable evening sitting here watching the opinions and laughed till my stomach hurt.

It's fun to play once in awhile.

Remember, I am for neither candidate. You can find the details on my support somewhere around page 18, don't remember exactly where, but it was at 2:40am if that helps, cos I went to bed after posting it.
Or maybe I posted it right before the last post, don't remember exactly.

Good to see you!wave I've got to get ready for church now.
Have a blessed day!!!

Tom...let's be realistic in regards to Farakan...it's easier to believe that farakan's endorcement of OBama has more to do with skin color than ideolgy. Farakan is the spiritual leader of the "Black Muslims" . And I believe you are intelligent enough to figure out what that endorcement is all about. He has shown no restraint is voicing his dislike for whites in America.

HealthyLiving: Talk about putting your most valuable where your mouth is!
You see character is what's shown when the public is not looking.

There were no cameras or press invited to what you are about to read about, and the story comes from one person in New Hampshire .
One evening last July, Senator John McCain of Arizona arrived at the New Hampshire home of Erin Flanagan for sandwiches, chocolate-chip cookies and a heartfelt talk about Iraq . They had met at a presidential debate, when she asked the candidates what they would do to bring home American soldiers, soldiers like her brother, who had been killed in action a few months earlier.
Mr. McCain did not bring cameras or press. Instead, he brought his youngest son, James McCain, 19, then a private first class in the Marine Corps about to leave for Iraq . Father and son sat down to hear more about Ms. Flanagan's brother Michael Cleary, a 24-year-old Army First Lieutenant killed by an ambush a roadside bomb.
No one mentioned the obvious: In just days, Jimmy McCain could face similar perils. 'I can't imagine what it must have been like for them as they were coming to meet with a family that Ms. Flanagan recalled, choking up. 'We lost a dear one,' she finished.
Mr. McCain, now the Republican nominee, has staked his candidacy on the promise that American troops can bring stability to Iraq . What he almost never says is that one of them is his own son, who spent seven months patrolling Anbar Province and learned of his father's New Hampshire victory in January while he was digging a stuck military vehicle out of the mud.
Two of Jimmy's three older brothers went into the military. Doug McCain, 48, was a Navy pilot. Jack McCain, 21, is to graduate from the Naval Academy next year, raising the chances that his father, if elected, could become the first president since Dwight D. Eisenhower with a son at war.
I chose to share this with those who I believe will pass it on, to others who will pass it on. We hear so much inflated trash out there. How about a simple act of kindness and dedication to others placed above oneself?
Has anybody heard of Barak Hussein Obama serving in The American Armed Services?
From Barak's book, Audacity of Hope:
"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
HE DID NOT SAY HE WOULD STAND WITH AMERICANS,YET HE MAY BE COMMANDER IN CHEIF!

Ras, you know very well that 18 year old is only following orders to go to Iraq. Our law enforcement here in the US use leathal restraint as well to protect lives here.

This last month.......know how many US combat deathes occurred in Iraq?

3 Raz......3 death of the 145,000 that are there.

The reporterthat did the segment on it. Walked all over Baghdad without a vest, no security.....getting interviews with the Iraqi people.

The Iraqi IDF and police have taken over most of the security operations there. US forces are being kept inside bases that are outside the cities.

Iraq is win, Ras.....theystill get a few attacks and car bombs.....so do we here in the US or in Europe.

The issue now is Iran. And Afghanistan.........

hug Thanks Tony!

We had our potluck Pastor appreciation dinner after church this morning and it was great! I also landed a job interview for tomarrow morning at a company less than a mile from my house. The owner was at our church for the first time, visiting. I spoke to him afterwards and found out that he is the man who just had this tremendous home built down the block, my closest neighbor! I asked if they were hiring at his business and he told me to go see his daughter in the morning to put in an application. I took it one step further and said I would like to work in Shipping or Receiving as I have 23 years in the Trucking Industry. He told me they had recently hired someone in shipping who moved to another position in the plant, so the slot is available. He immediately phoned the vice president of his company and the man wants to see me at 9:00 in the morning!!!yay
I will be able to quit driving truck!!!! I am sooooo excited!!! I have heard from another man who works there, who came to church with the owner of the company, that I already have the job, but if anyone would like to lift me up in prayer, it's fine with me!
Also, the insurance agent for my truck called and left a message. He is ready to settle with me on my truck!

God is sooooooo good...
All the time!!!
