I've never read those books, but I've heard a lot of good things about Tuesdays With Morrie. I'll have to get them and read them. They sound right up my alley. Thank you, PPV.

It relates to me, the story, as I took on a young man at the age of 9, his granfather has care of him and as a teacher, he has been with me for the last nine years, aside from one.

So I have mentored, taught, and shared alot with this young man, like one of my own.

As I work in boarding schools, it is easier to do, because aside from the education, we have alot more than educational time, recreational time too.

But I will.

I figured that he was the one sending them...I saw in one of his threads that you were talking to him on the phone while posting on his thread, so I know you're RL friends (at least), and that's cool.

I knew you were a teacher, but I didn't know it was in boarding schools. Awesome on what you're doing in that young man's life. At least he has grown up knowing somebody really cares about him.

Yeah, boarding schools...the thing that reminds me that money isn't everything. A lot of these kids grow up with nannies, then sent off to school and never really get to know their parents. Makes me glad my mom didn't marry the Goodyear heir she was engaged to at one point. I grew up knowing the love of one parent at least, 'cuz she married one of the best men and dads I know.

This is my wish list...

For now, I can think of one person.

She was a teacher too. She was my head mistress at primary school. In England we begin school at 4 years of age.

Anyway, this teacher, Mrs Swales, was a wondrous person in what was a very traumatised child's life. Due to family difficulties, school was the only place I felt safe, she protected me, loved me, nurtured me, She saw a snotty nosed child that was deeply shocked at the happenings at home and she had an idea, of what I was going through, even more so when my mother marched into my class one day and slit her wrists in front of my whole class.

But you see, I was used to this, watching my mother self mutilate in front of me, it was her only way of showing the world that she needed help, and in doing those things at school, in her own way she was keeping me safe, because she knew that school would protect me, and by golly gosh did it.

Mrs Swales died when I was 34, I knew she was in hospital, each year, I had written to her, showed her my travels, my own children, my life, what I had achieved, what I had suffered as a woman growing and becoming a mother at a young age, when I went to see her in hospital, I flew back rrom the US, as I was living there then, I went and held her hand, and looked in the eyes, of this woman that had guided me, helped one little girl who so badly needed it, and indeed helped my own mother by getting her the care that she so needed.

And when I looked into her eyes, as an adult, a mother myself, I could speak this time, she sopke to me, and said 'I knew you would do good, you have, beautiful, intelligent and a sight for my old eyes'

And my words, were enough for her, I held her hand, I said 'Thank you'

There are many areas to my life, that I have done, sales and marketing, hospitality industry, but the one area that I gather the most soul searching, enjoyment and frustrations from is when I decided to become a teacher, and not just any teacher, in schools that have always been connected to my life as it is today, since Mrs Swales took care of me.

And that is what I have done with this young man, he has stayed with us, he has been here, he has been in our lives, I am the only person that he sees as a mother, his grandparents are elderly and they know that he is better off with me, at my school.

He graduates this year, I will be there, as a teacher and as a person who has watched a little boy grow into a handsome, intelligent young man, who was angry as a nine year old, spoke little English.

I am not his mum, I never can be, but I am that person who has been there and seen him through alot of heartache that was far too large for his young shoulders to carry. But he got there, and I know what he thinks of me, his eyes light up, and he breathes the words thank you, often.

I am his Mrs Swales, and I would love to see her in heaven, because without her, I would never have had him in my life, he never replaces my own children and they are never jealous of him, they have accepted him and love him as he does them.
