Aries01: Hi Mike The significance (where a person says the prayer with the right heart) is that it invites the Holy Spirit in.... and it is the Holy Spirit who does all the work... all we can do is share the Gospel of Jesus and our testimonies... these are like seeds... how they are received, will be a matter for the recipient.. don't think we have any role to play in this at all... I believe that God choses his Children (more that they choosing him) on the basis of the condition of their heart... only open hearts can receive the word and thrive..Hard Soil (heart) cannot receive the seed, it simply gets snatched away.... and there is not a thing.. anyone can do about that.. (apart from God himself of course) if he choses he can convert the most enthusiastic and resolute Athiest... even Saul(Paul) of the new testement is a good example of this.. he was an Anti Christian crusader and enthusiastic persecutor of Christian.. and look what happened to him.. ... I love that guy

Thank you Aries, for all your encouraging posts and messages. I really appreciate them. hug

Weasel words and phrases are words or phrases that seemingly support statements without attributing opinions to verifiable sources. Weasel words give the force of authority to a statement without letting the reader decide if the source of the opinion is reliable. If a statement can't stand on its own without weasel words, it lacks neutral point of view; either a reliable source for the statement should be found, or the statement should be removed.

The bible purports stories and begins stories (not only with unreliable sources, because the only the bible proves the bible) that are vague out of context of situations, meant to be proofs or conclusions. The story is usually vague and contains circular logic and or subjective language, verbs that have disconnects with reality, generally connected to unreliable sources. After a paragraph or two the the unthinking brain is engrossed in the obsession since they cannot connect the dots. At this point the bible tosses in weasle phrases to add the final proof, which is not porrof at all, but a phrase using the unreliable character it started with to prove the main unreliable character as real.

MikeHD: "But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, (vague asserrtion and unreliable source) full of sores, who was laid at his gate,"desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. (introduction of another vague source) Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
"So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's(vague asserrtion and unreliable source) bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
"And being in torments in Hades, (vague asserrtion and unreliable source)he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (you dont say, two people in his bosom laugh doh)"Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'
"But Abraham said, 'Son, (vague asserrtion and unreliable source and where the hell does he come from? all of a sudden the vague character just appears) the beggar btw)remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.
'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.'(vague assertion from an unreliable source and a bunch of gobbledy gook)
"Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house,
'for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.'(where the hell are they now? story mesmerization, disjointed connectors)

"Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses (Introduction of the unreliable "prover") and the prophets; (introduction of unrelaible support source) let them hear them.'
"And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' (another disconnected mesmerization keeping the reader distracted from logical connections)

Now for the weasle phrase-
"But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses (unreliable source already set up as reliable above simply by 'introduction') and the prophets, (unreliable supporting source set up as reliable above simply by 'introduction' adding more weight to the weasle proof) neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead .'" Luke 16:20-31( the final weasle connecting phrase as though proof has been verified and proof established)

Its pretty much psychobabble, introducing characters that aren't proven, early in a text, where the mere introduction is used as the "weight" of proof that they exist in the end. The memserized mind "forgets the character was unreal in the first place but weasle factors have established the source as reliable when the reader is distracted"

Using unproven unreliable with disconnects and distractions to prove that BS is real. Fools undulge.

Hey guys,

I found another great article.

Can We KNOW the Bible is the Word of God?
by Rev. Sam Harris

Question: (1) Is there some type of credible evidence that the Bible is the Word of God? (2) How do you know that Paul wrote the book of Romans and not someone else? (3) How do you know that some other book is not the Word of God? (4) How do you know that it is authentic? Please excuse my ignorance; please respond!

Answer: Let’s approach these questions with the following analogy. When a crime has been committed, the police will begin their investigation at the crime scene. Once they have collected evidence at the scene, they may well move beyond the scene looking for additional evidence to help make and/or affirm their case. Evidence at the scene is called "internal evidence." Looking for additional evidence apart from the scene can be called "external evidence." Most often, the internal evidence will be the primary evidence used in the case to convict someone of a crime. He might well have the evidence on him or in his possession.
We take the same approach regarding Scripture: There is both "internal" and "external" evidence. In the case of the above questions, we let the Bible speak for itself and thus deal with "internal" evidence.
1.) In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Paul writes these words to Timothy: "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work" (NASB). The NIV says that "all Scripture is God-breathed." If you return to the original Greek, you find that the Greek word theopneustos is translated "God-breathed, or given by inspiration of God." Notice the use of the word "all". When "all" is used, it means "all." Over the years, I have urged my congregations to circle the word "all" as it further helps us to understand the Scriptures.
A good cross reference verse is 2 Peter 1:20-21: "But you know this, first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." This verse affirms that the Holy Spirit is the author of Scripture and moved men to write it down.
The internal evidence points to the Bible as the infallible Word of God. Psalm 119:89—"Forever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven." Matthew 24:35—Jesus said: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

My own denomination, in the Reformed tradition, has affirmed in "The Essentials":
All Scripture is self-attesting and being Truth, requires our unreserved submission in all areas of life. The infallible Word of God, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is a complete and unified witness to God’s redemptive acts culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible, uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks.
2.) To understand that Paul is the author of Romans, we must again examine the "internal evidence." Let me preface this by sharing a unique aspect of early writers. When you and I write letters, and now E-mails, we usually start with "Dear David or Sarah," and we will end the letter by signing or typing our name. The reader must look at the end of the letter to find out who it is from.
The New Testament writers used a different technique; they identified themselves at the first of the letter. For example: Look at the first chapter and verse of each of the following books: 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and all through the rest of the New Testament letters.
In the case of Romans, chapter 1, verses 1 and 7, "Paul, a bond servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God… to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."
The internal evidence shows Paul as author, his credentials, and to whom the letter is written. With all the New Testament letters, by the internal evidence, we can identify the author and to whom each letter is written.
3.) How do you know that some other book is not the Word of God? Again, let’s look at the internal evidence. Revelation 22:18—"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book." Pretty straight-forward, isn’t it! That is not to say that God doesn’t still "inspire" writers of quality, Christian books today; He certainly does. Hopefully, sermons and Bible studies are inspired by the Holy Spirit, based on the Word of God. And that’s the key: It must be based on, and not contradict, the Word of God. These books are not, however, a part of the original canon.
4.) Your question dealing with the authenticity of Scripture is answered with question number 1 above.
You stated in your question: "Please excuse my ignorance." I just want you to know that there are no dumb questions! Thanks for asking and keep them coming. Have a blessed day!

short story because I dont have the time to teach a science class and evolution.

E=mc2 .. that's energy = mass, times the speed of light squared.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, hence it has always been, always is, always will be; forever. It has no beginning no end. It can only be transformed. Sounds like god huh.. everywhere, always was, always is, always will be...

since energy is dependant on Mass, (molecules, particles) energy and particles make up the form of life itself, the rest is evolution of organsims.

E==mc2 is the axis of evolution and the creater destroyer of life, as we know it.

WOW! Do you really think everyone and everything came from the big bang theory because that's exactly what you just explained but you juiced it up to make it "sound" normal. I mean really, get real... it all boils down to science? You must have either had a high school crush on your science teacher that went WAY WAY too far or you watch WAY WAY to many sci-fi movies!
