I met a woman in the real world, and we have emailed and then talked on the phone. We are very interested in each other. What are the pitfalls or things to look out for? Anyone have this experience?

I would consider how willing she is to please you, that is telling, and look at differences in opinion and how that is handled between you two. Good luck

As long as you have both been your real selves and been honest with each other...there are none...meeting in person should just be a continuation of what you already have....just like meeting someone any other place.....

If you met someone...go for it. I missed out a lot in life because I didn't!!

You e-mailed, you talked on the phone, you've met her.....
Are both of you up to meeting again?
If yes, why in the world you are going to look for the pitfalls instead of concentrating on positive things and enjoying each other's company?

Seriously fun, you are kind of betraying your namesake ... what is seriously fun about anticipating the 'pit falls' and negatives before you even embark on a relationship with someone.... all relationships have a certain risk attached to them, but that should be no reason to not embark on them...
The main thing is to get to know one another, spend time together... chemistry can't be manufactured so nature takes care of the rest..

Apparently, they're within yourself for you to be looking for them. If you expect the worst, you'll find it. Expect the best, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Just go for it and don't start thinking about pitfalls... meet in person and see how it goes. If you both are honest, then there should be no pitfalls. Beware of falling in love until you get to know her better. You know you are honest but you cannot be 100% sure of what she feels/wants.
... just some thoughts from someone who has been in your place... marrying my blind CS date soon :)
